Microelectronic Research Institute Progress: 2G/3G modem

The 2G/3G-modem — a coherent basis of the mobile phone.

On September 4, 2017 the scientific research institute of the microelectronic Progress equipment announced development of the modem by the Moscow enterprise of holding which is a coherent basis of the mobile phone. According to the statement of Progress, the modem will become the first domestic device of this sort. It is expected that the works will be completed in 2018.

It is planned that the developed 2G/3G-modem will support the GSM, GPRS, UMTS standards, ranges of the Russian mobile operators. Besides, by a program way functioning in the InBand-modem mode will be ensured. The product size in the body will be about 30х30 mm. Design is performed based on chips of Taiwanese company MediaTek.

The system module of "ERA-GLONASS" designed to provide the emergency reaction at car accidents regardless of location of the vehicle consists of the navigation receiver, modem 2G/3G, the controller, the accelerometer and a control device a power supply. The price of a product reaches 18 thousand rubles. As explained in Progress, high price is connected not only using import component parts of modules, but also with their deficit in the market. According to specialists, the annual need for modules makes up to 3 million pieces. Are considered as deliveries to automobile works for a complete set of new cars, and in the service centers – for equipment of used cars, for example, at their import to the territory of the Russian Federation.

According to the estimates of developers of Microelectronic Research Institute Progress, use of domestic component parts will allow to reduce the price of the module "ERA-GLONASS" by 70% — to 5-6 thousand rubles.
