Ericsson AIR

Product
Developers: Ericsson
Date of the premiere of the system: 2017/09/13
Branches: Telecommunication and communication
Technology: SCS

Ericsson of AIR is technology for installation of the Massive MIMO systems.

On September 13, 2017 the Ericsson company provided the product AIR 3246. It is intended for deployment of the Massive MIMO systems and supplements a line of a solutions 5G from Ericsson.

In AIR 3246 support of technologies 4G/LTE and 5G NR (New Radio) is implemented. This wireless solution is intended for work in a FDD transmission mode of data. Use of AIR 3246 provides to operators a possibility of start of services of fifth generation in the networks unrolled in the ranges of mid frequencies and increases capacity[1].

With the announcement of AIR 3246 Ericsson expanded a line of the wireless solutions which are a part of platform 5G. For September 13, 2017 as a part of the platform:

  • three wireless technologies intended for data transmission in the TDD mode and supporting technologies 5G and Massive MIMO,
  • elements of reference and transport networks,
  • components of support systems and security protection.

The FDD Massive MIMO technology passes tests on three websites of network of T-Mobile operator of US in Baltimore. During testing the standardized Massive MIMO systems will be applied to data transmission in the FDD mode in the mid-frequency range of commercial LTE network.

Use of Massive MIMO technology for transfer of traffic in the FDD mode can increase the capacity of network three times and provide to users increase in data transfer rate five times.

The solution AIR 3246 will become available to the commercial order in the second quarter 2018 as a part of the solution Ericsson Radio System.

The 5G platform of Ericsson consists of reference 5G network, a solution portfolio for wireless data transmission and a transport network, the OSS and BSS systems, professional services and to security of transmitted data.
