Russian Consulting (Russia Consulting) (DPC Projects of creation and upgrade)

The implemented project — creation of reserve DPC for Russian Consulting company in 2015.

Prerequisites of the Project

Due to the fast development and specifics of multi-profile business the Russia Consulting company made the decision on creation of a reserve data processing center. Minimizing of data loss in case of emergency situations in the main DPC and a possibility of recovery of work of customer and user services within an hour was the purpose of this solution.

Project Progress

High availability of IT services was provided due to use of technologies of virtualization of storage systems of the main and reserve DPCs. The system of centralized operation by data storage infrastructure based on the equipment IBM System Storage SVC which allows to store the synchronous copy of data of the main DPC in reserve DPC was for this purpose implemented. Use of this system reduced risk of data loss almost to zero. The equipment IBM System Storage SVC is duplicated that allows to exclude the termination of synchronous copying of data at failure or failure of one of cluster components.

The computing subsystem is constructed on the basis of technology of the IBM Flex System servers edges of the Enterprise level. This choice was caused by several factors:

• This type of servers is used on the main platform as the main computing system;
• Use of servers edges allows to condense computing resources several times;
• Convenience of administration. The single console integrates control not only of servers, but also switches (to SAN switches, Ethernet switches);
• Power saving.

For the purpose of minimization of operating costs of lease of communication channels between server premises the equipment of wavelength division multiplexing PacketLight PL-1000E-8 was implemented that allowed to reduce rent expenses several times.

As the platform of a data network the equipment and solutions of Cisco Systems company optimal from the technology point of view and providing accomplishment of all functional requirements were selected.

The core of a LAN is constructed based on switches Cisco Catalyst 3850 and represents the failsafe and completely redundant system using Cisco StackWise-480 technology. The core of a LAN is a modular structure which is the platform for connection of elements of a system. It provides reliable high-speed routing and packet switching, terming of a virtual LAN, routing of traffic between a virtual LAN and also basic safety features at the level of lists of access control.

The module of external connections organized based on Cisco ISRG2 routers and Cisco ASA5515-X firewalls in a cluster configuration provides to function of connection to external networks and a global network the Internet, routing and traffic filtering and also access isolation to network resources and protection against cyber attacks.

Connection of the equipment of the module of external connections is organized according to the failsafe scheme excluding failure of all system in case of single hardware failures or communication channels.

For creation of the reserve server room it was necessary to equip the selected premises with engineering infrastructure and to carry out all-construction works. As a conditioning system the scheme using two conditioners of Daikin company, precision and reserve wall type was selected. Application of this scheme allows to avoid overheating of the equipment in case of failure of one of conditioners.

Implementation of uninterruptible power supply unit of ARS Smart RT 16000 allows to avoid shutdown of the equipment at short-term failures in system operation of power supply.

Project Results

Availability of IT services and safety of data is a crucial condition for Russia Consulting as clients of the company are both representatives of small and medium business, and the international enterprises. Violation of availability of services can lead to serious financial and reputation losses. On a response of the customer, with the advent of reserve DPC these risks managed to be minimized.

Thanks to project implementation on creation of reserve DPC the risk of data loss and unavailability of services managed to be minimized that allowed Russia Consulting company to increase loyalty of the clients and attractiveness as IT service provider.
