The Dell EMC company in September, 2017 announced the joint project with the international center of the advanced researches and TSSG technologies within which the company will provide TSSG the test platform for testing of Internet of Things (IoT). Based on this TSSG platform will be able to conduct researches in the specified area, including to experience IoT-developments in the field of agriculture.
Premises and project tasks
As noted, TSSG laboratories serve not only for carrying out researches and experiments, but also are the platform for testing of the projects important for development of economy of Ireland. The authorities of the country pay special attention to agriculture, one of the major industries. TSSG is obliged to give support to this sector of national economy, having provided the environment for testing of projects in the field of IoT. The test platform created by the organization will allow to test TEConts of air quality, soil and presence of wreckers.
Choice of the partner
The choice of TSSG fell on Dell EMC as the uniform supplier of IT solutions who would have knowledge and experience in the field of IoT was required for the organization. Dell EMC offered the organization an opportunity to select the suitable solution directly in the IoT-laboratory in Limerick. During the visit of researchers of TSSG to Dell laboratory they not only gained an impression how the test platform over which they should begin work will look, but also discussed the prospects of implementation of IoT of the technical and economic plan.
Sufficient qualification of the Dell EMC command became one of basic reasons on which we selected Dell EMC as our partner in creation of the test IoT-platform. The company agrees that researches and innovation are the cornerstone of our organization. Together we work on creation of the solution which will allow us to get access to IoT technologies and to use the received platform for many other projects — the head of infrastructure of TSSG Jerry Horgan shared. — Having visited Dell EMC IoT-laboratory in Limerick and having seen a number of projects, including Dell Smart Hive, we were so inspired that decided to begin work on similar things in own walls. In general I can tell that both parties benefited from cooperation. We will be glad to continue work with Dell EMC on other projects in the future. |
Choice of solutions
The means selected for the test platform included the Dell EMC PowerEdge servers and the gateways Dell Edge Gateways allowing to construct a core and the periphery of infrastructure independently to simulate different events and to use all opportunities of IoT without violation of work of the existing processes. TSSG also offered Dell EMC safe IoT-network, management tools and technology of peripheral data processing using wire and wireless devices and systems.
Objectives
Investment of researchers of the organization and pupils with practical experience of work with IoT will become result of our cooperation with TSSG. It is a part of our big long-term task of IoT output to the world market, including the market of Ireland. We expect to use the existing practices and partner communications in the market of IoT-solutions and we consider that Ireland has every chance to become the leader in this area — the vice president of division of Dell EMC of division of the solutions OEM and IoT in EMEA region Dermot O'Connell said. |
In future Dell EMC TSSG will also assist in use of the test IoT-platform in other projects, such as intellectual management of automobile traffic and increase in safety of movement of cyclists.
