Driver of collector TB67H420FTG electric motors
On April 12, 2018 the Toshiba Electronics Europe company announced expansion of the range of miniature drivers of collector electric motors for surface mount and submitted the TB67H420FTG driver intended for systems with high tension, such as household robotic vacuum cleaners, bank terminals, automatic machines of cash disbursement and other household equipment.
The collector electric motors which are also used in printers and office equipment require more powerful drives for creation of necessary high values of a torsional moment. In process of growth of quantity of the automated systems using electric motors the need for the compact solutions allowing to save space grows. During creation of drives of powerful collector electric motors high voltage outputs which can create high loads in chains of drivers are required. The feature of collector electric motors also is that they require high starting currents which also create load of drivers. As a rule, for creation of powerful drives the mixed technology is used: the integrated driver and the discrete switching MOS transistors. Such approach is admissible, but at the same time the quantity of components and, thereby, cost and the sizes of a system increases, explained in Toshiba Electronics Europe.
TB67H420FTG, according to the developer, is issued on the basis of the most modern technology process of Toshiba with project regulation of 130 nanometers. In it the mode of one output bridge providing current up to 9.0 A at a voltage of 50 V is implemented. The driver can also manage two collector electric motors (50 V, 2 channels on 4.5 A) thanks to implementation of the mode of two bridges allowing to manage independently each channel due to existence of two separate exit channels.
The driver of collector TB67H420FTG electric motors can work with modern powerful drives and helps to save space thanks to the miniature body for surface mount of QFN48 the sizes of 7 mm x 7 mm. The built-in MOS transistors have the ultralow resistance abroach (only 0.17 Ohms in the mode of one bridge and 0.33 Ohms in the mode of two bridges), ensuring thereby effective functioning and the minimum heat release, noted in Toshiba.
In addition to the limiter of current and the basic built-in functions of error trapping (overheating, overcurrent condition, protective shutdown at low tension) the driver also has a signal output of detection of an error which allows to announce a system any errors, thereby providing the high level of security.
In the provided driver of collector electric motors the expanded system of determination of current (Advanced Current Detection System, ACDS) Toshiba companies is also applied to tracking current and management by it without use of tokochuvstvitelny resistors that allows to save space on the printed circuit board and to reduce the cost of components, emphasized in Toshiba.
The Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation company considers the TB67H420FTG device as flagman model of the driver of collector electric motors of a direct current of the next generation, thanks to its enhanced capabilities for creation of drives with high values of tension and current and also the wide scope of application caused by existence of the mode of two bridges and to error handling opportunities.
TB67S249FTG and TB67S279FTG drivers
On February 14, 2018 the Toshiba Electronics Europe company submitted two drivers of stepping electric motors which are capable to detect the raised load of the engine and to automatically regulate a power supply of the engine according to this loading.
The TB67S249FTG and TB67S279FTG drivers provide exact movement of electric motors with high speeds at different loadings, minimizing at the same time energy consumption, heat release and cost of devices. These drivers are suitable for application in robotics, precision production systems and 3D devices - printings, requiring stable and exact management with a high traverse speed.
In drivers of stepping electric motors of Toshiba the technology of prevention of a stop and active amplification control (AGC) of own development for prevention of a stop and potential damage of engines is implemented. The AGC technology continuously traces a torsional moment of the electric motor and automatically optimizes its current according to requirements of loading without the need for use of the additional microcontroller. Due to work at rated values of current instead of raised these devices can lower the power consumption and heat release of the electric motor by 80% in comparison with the existing devices without the AGC function, thus saving the accuracy of movement and efficiency of the engine with the broad range of workloads and rotating speeds.
At an allowable operating voltage of 50 V the TB67S249FTG driver provides a high maximum current up to 4.5 A, and the rated current of TB67S279FTG makes 2.0 A. Besides, in these drivers of electric motors the expanded system of determination of current (ACDS) developed by Toshiba company which allows to refuse big and expensive tokochuvstvitelny resistors and by that to save the place on the printed circuit board and to reduce system cost is used.
For noise reduction and the level of vibrations of the device support work with permission complete, half, quarters, 1/8, 1/16 and 1/32 steps, providing fast and exact movement. They also contain different detection circuits of errors (thermal protection, overcurrent protection, protective shutdown at low tension and detection of shutdown of loading) for increase in security and reliability of systems.
All devices are issued in the QFN48 body (7 mm x 7 mm) with effective heat dissipation and are compatible at the level of outputs that allows producers of devices to create devices with different utilization properties on the basis of one printed circuit board.

Driver of the stepping TB67S289FTG electric motor
On September 18, 2017 the Toshiba Electronics Europe company announced release of the driver of the stepping TB67S289FTG electric motor with the architecture which is automatically detecting and preventing its stop during operation.
Electric motors stop when the turn of the engine differs from a control signal. Prevention of stops of stepping electric motors is important for maintenance of stable and exact engine management. It is reached by giving of additional current for creation of a working stock the engine. Monitoring of return signals of a torsional moment and current of the electric motor in real time using additional sensors and the specialized microcontroller is necessary for increase in efficiency and decrease in heat release.
TB67S289FTG is the driver of the stepping electric motor in which the mechanism of prevention of a stop and increase in efficiency of development of Toshiba – Active Gain Control (AGC) is used. He allows the driver to monitor the electric motor and its torsional moment, automatically optimizes engine management without additional microcontroller. In use the TB67S289FTG driver prevents the admission of steps and a stop of the electric motor and automatically optimizes electric motor current depending on a required torsional moment.
The device provides permissions of a complete step, a half, a quarter, 1/8, 1/16 and 1/32 steps for noise reduction and vibration, contains several built-in functions of error trapping with a possibility of signal transmission to the microcontroller (shutdown when overheating, shutdown at overcurrent condition, protective shutdown at low tension and detection of shutdown of loading) for increase in security and reliability. The driver supports implementation of the sequence at inclusion of a power supply for one power drive.
Additional increase in efficiency can be reached by means of support of the driver of the stepping electric motor by the expanded system of determination of current (Advanced Current Detection System, ACDS). The monitoring system of current and management demands less place without use of tokochuvstvitelny resistors and smaller quantity of external components on the printed circuit board.
