The SPB TV company announced in September, 2017 that its SPB TV Home M2 platform received certification of Google as the product which is completely conforming to requirements of the standard of Android TV.
According to the company, the solution SPB TV Home M2 became the first Russian Android TV the prefix certified by Google. SPB TV emphasizes that the solution is created "from scratch" and holds 2 international patents. Product development strategy means attraction of new b2b and b2c of customers along with transition of already existing mobile users to consumption of high-quality content on the big screen.
The solution SPB TV Home M2 represents the hardware-software platform, ready to bulk sales, combining the set-top box (Set-Top Box) in the nano-factor body, SPB TV Rosing which is completely integrated with a software platform. The remote control developed especially for the SPB TV Home platform with support of a set of functions is also included in the solution delivery.
The SPB TV Home platform also supports all opportunities of OpenGL of a framework SPB TV Genie, providing complete customization of the user interface on the big screen[1].
Features of technical implementation
The compact media center SPB TV Home M2 is executed based on the 64-bit multimedia AmLogic S905X processor based on four cores of ARM Cortex-A53 with clock rate of 1.5 GHz, and a graphic core of ARM Mali-450 with clock rate 750 MHz and support of OpenGL ES 1.1/2.0 and OpenVG 1.1. The chip also supports AES/AES-XTS enciphering with keys up to 256 bits long and enciphering of traffic flow of DVB-CSA.
The AmLogic S905X processor supports at the hardware level VP9, H.265 HEVC codecs with the permission to 4Kx2K to 60 frames per second, H.264 AVC up to 30 frames per second and H.264 MVC up to 1080p 60 frames per second. High dynamic range of HDR10 and processing in REC709/BT2020 color spaces is supported.
The prefix is equipped with Ethernet port and can be connected to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to networks. For ensuring protection of content the certified DRM systems are used.
The prefix is completed with the panel with the special design connected via the wireless Bluetooth LE interface. In addition to the general TV-functions, the remote control panel allows to configure notifications and to open user profiles. With SPB TV Home each family member gets access to a personal profile simple clicking of the button.
The most unusual function of the SPB TV Home M2 media center, according to Denis Perepelitsyn, is the possibility of automatic adjustment of "korbochka" under any television system, regardless of a brand of the producer – whether it be Samsung, LG or something another. Everything that it is required – to connect from user side a prefix to the TV and to include them. The device itself is automatically configured under management of TV regardless of model.
According to the representative of the company, the prefix supports creation to 10 profiles, but based on marketing researches of the company it became clear that no more than 3 profiles on one family (household) are, as a rule, demanded. For this reason the first in the market in SPB TV created three separate hardware buttons on the panel for switching, Denis Perepelitsyn specified.
Users can manage the TV-viewing by one panel instead of two as the SPB TV Home panel allows to configure key parameters of the TV.
Feature of the SPB TV Home platform is the function "call on the panel" thanks to which it will not be lost behind a sofa, in a cabinet or the refrigerator. Function, according to Denis Perepelitsyn, works as follows: the user downloads the application on the smartphone and can "call in literal sense to the panel". As the representative of SPB TV, "taking into account a large number of children or forgetful domodchadets function more than demanded" noted.
The SPB TV Home prefix has compact dimensions and can be attached to back the TV.
SPB TV Home uses all technical capabilities of SPB TV Genie - the framework for development of user interfaces based on OpenGL and created by analogy with the game engine.
