The St. Petersburg company Ozbatteriz acquired the largest lead plant in Russia, Fregat, located in Voznesensk near Moscow. The deal was completed in February 2025 and became part of the strategy of the Belarusian holding 1AK-Group, which is developing the direction of processing batteries.

According to Kommersant, the Fregat plant is the largest secondary lead production enterprise in Russia. The asset was acquired from the Cypriot company ERMOCO LIMITED. The company "Fregat" specializes in processing spent lead-acid batteries with the subsequent production of lead, alloys, polypropylene and crystalline sodium sulfate. The design capacity of the plant reaches 170 thousand tons of processing of used batteries annually. Until 2022, the company produced up to 40 thousand tons of lead and alloys annually, which amounted to about a quarter of the total production of this metal in Russia (about 200 thousand tons).

According to the publication, in June 2022, the Fregat plant was forced to temporarily suspend work due to a complete shutdown of exports and difficulties in reconfiguring supplies in other areas. Current data on the volume of lead output at the enterprise for 2024 were not published in open sources.

The buying company Ozbatteriz LLC is 80% owned by Belarusian entrepreneur Viktor Lemeshevsky, owner of the 1AK-Group holding. The remaining 20% is controlled by a citizen of Belarus, Alexander Zubarev. The legal entity is registered in St. Petersburg and performs the functions of the trading representative office of the holding in the Russian market.[1]
