Low Speed Ventilation (LSV) Low-speed distribution of air flows

Product
Developers: LSVdatacenters BV
Technology: Data processing centers are technologies for DPC

The technology of cooling of DPC Low Speed Ventilation (LSV, low-speed distribution of air flows) is developed by the Dutch company Boersema which constructed the solution on Alfa Laval air coolers, in particular, to Arctigo LSV line. Results of implementation of LSV technology in DPC show that use of low-speed ventilation in combination with adiabatic cooling allows to bring an indicator of PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness, the relation of all energy consumed by DPC to the power consumed actually by the IT equipment) to coefficient 1.07. Traditional cooling systems give to PUE about 1.5.

Usually the equipment of DPC is cooled with the cupboard or intra line conditioners with a limited power located in the server premises. The traditional cooling system of DPC high-speed (more than 2 m/s) air flows creates differential pressures indoors that is an origin of "overheating points" where cooling is absent or is ineffective ("Venturi's effect"). As a rule, this problem is solved by creation of excessive pressure in the airprocessing block that conducts to the consumption growth of the electric power and complication of process of distribution of air flows in the serviced premises.

The Low Speed Ventilation system allows to avoid this problem and it is essential to reduce energy consumption. For ensuring low motion speed of air cooling devices with the big sectional area which are in the certain premises, but not between ranks of servers are used. Bolshaya Square of a heat-exchanging surface in combination with the electronic fans switched (EC) allows to give to the cooled premises large volumes of a cold air at a low speed. Thanks to it emergence of zones of overheating within the server premises is excluded. The equipment of LSV can be placed in DPC of any configuration.

Heart of each cooler is the tubular orebryonny heat exchanger. It is executed of strong corrugated aluminum edges of industrial quality and copper pipes. Copper pipes gather in the packet forming rigid construction which provides good thermal contact between pipes and lamels of the heat exchanger. All parts of the body are executed of the anticorrosive material covered with a strong epoxy covering. It gives ease of cleaning and guarantees long term of operation without service.

Each installation is equipped with the economic fans conforming to standards of the EU. On an additional request the equipment can be completed with the communication system under the Modbus RS485 protocol necessary for exact control of fans.

Air coolers are equipped with filters of industrial quality with a class of cleaning of EU4 - F9 (efficiency more than 95%) which block all heat-exchanging surface and can easily be replaced.
