Zyxel Device High Availability Pro (HA Pro)

Device High Availability Pro (HA Pro) is technology of ensuring smooth operation of network of the enterprise.

The Russian department of ZyXEL Communications company announced on November 9, 2017 inclusion in the territory of Russia and the CIS Device High Availability Pro technologies in a basic delivery package of professional routers of the company. It means reliability augmentation and ensuring smooth operation of network of the enterprise: at failure on the main router, reserve will immediately get into gear and will undertake all necessary functions, explained in the company.

The technology is available in basic delivery of routers of ZyXEL: ZyWALL 1100, USG1100, USG1900 and USG2200.

The Device High Availability Pro technology is available in a basic packet of routers of ZyXEL in Russia and the CIS now

Earlier when developing the active/active mode the network administrator needed to reserve 20-25% of system resources for switching at failures that limited network performance and its capacity. Besides, the administrator had to understand deeply all subtleties of "dynamic routing" and "asymmetric packets" about which only experts in network technologies know.

Zyxel Device HA Pro uses the active/passive mode which does not require a difficult procedure of setup of a configuration. The passive device reserves the capacity to be ready at once to begin to process network traffic and to support normal network functioning.

When using HA Pro in the active/passive mode of the device exchange heartbeat signals through the selected port (in routers of a series of ZyXEL of USG for this purpose it is possible to use the last port). The selected ports of the active and passive device connect the Ethernet cable. The passive device not only synchronizes information on connection with the active device, but stores the backup copy of the file of a configuration on a case of failure of the active device. Also for an exception of the conflicts all ports of the passive device are disconnected. Synchronizable data contain more detailed information on traffic in the optimized version of HA Pro that allows to recover quickly normal network functioning when switching to the passive device.

Device HA Pro implements instant switching at failure which is executed is absolutely transparent for net surfers. At failure the passive device becomes active and begins to service network using the same the politician and within five seconds recovers normal network functioning. At failure of the main device of its function undertakes reserve. After maintenance the former earlier active device will work as passive and will ensure network functioning at failure of the current main device. Thus, devices at failure only change roles that minimizes violation of normal network functioning because of replacement of a system.

The technology is supported also by other routers of ZyXEL. For example, younger USG310/210/110 and ZyWALL 310/110 models. However for its use it is necessary to purchase the corresponding license separately.
