Characteristics

Qualcomm Centriq 2400 is the server processor manufactured on 10-nanometer technical process of FinFET from Samsung company. The chip contains 48 physical cores which are based on architecture of ARMv8-A and working at clock rate from 2.3 to 2.6 GHz.

In Qualcomm Centriq 2400 the bidirectional ring bus with capacity  of 256 Gbytes / with which, according to developers, allows to avoid performance penalties at an overall load is used. Each two cores are united in one module for which well to 512 Kb of the general cache of L2. Total volume a cache memory of the second and third levels is 12 MB and 60 MB respectively.

In the servers working on Centriq 2400 processors it can be installed up to 768 Gbytes of 6-channel RAM of DDR4-2666. Heat release (TDP) is declared at the level of 120 W.

2017: Beginning of sales

In November, 2017 sales of the Qualcomm Centriq 2400 processor began. Its cost is $2 thousand.

In the press release devoted to emergence of Qualcomm Centriq 2400 in the market it is said that the 48-core model at clock rate of 2.6 GHz showed energy consumption at the level of 65 W in a benchmark package of SPECint_rate2006. It is 2.5 times less in comparison with an indicator of the competing solution Intel Xeon Platinum 8180. Besides, declare to Qualcomm 4-fold superiority of the product regarding performance counting on dollar. Intel commented on it so:
