InfoTeCS quantum phone ViPNet is a system for demonstrating the integration of quantum key distribution equipment.

2022: Completion of product creation, testing in Russian Railways and Gazprom

In mid-November 2022, it became known about the completion of the creation of the ViPNet QSS quantum phone and its testing in Russian Railways and Gazprom. This was told by Dmitry Gusev, Deputy General Director of InfoTeCS, which developed this product.

They are being tested. We hope that next [2023] we will tell you about the first actual implementations, - Gusev said in response to a question from a RBC correspondent in November 2022.

The first Russian quantum phone for 40 million rubles has been created, which is being tested in Russian Railways and Gazprom

According to one of RBC's sources, the cost of a quantum phone is estimated at about 40 million rubles. Dmitry Gusev did not disclose the cost, but said that protecting one segment of a network up to 100 km long on the principles of quantum key distribution would cost "several tens of millions of rubles."

With an increase in the production of quantum cryptographic complexes and the scale of their implementation, the cost of such solutions will obviously decrease, he said.

You can only call a quantum phone to a subscriber who also has a quantum receiver. Both systems must be connected to a quantum network distribution node. At the same time, the devices have a number of restrictions. For example, the room should have a stable temperature. If it increases, then decreases (or vice versa), then ViPNet QSS may not work correctly.

According to RBC at the NTI Competence Center on the basis of Moscow State University. M.V. Lomonosov (participates in the development of the device), by November 2022, large oil and gas, energy and telecom companies, departments that are responsible for state security, and special services are already interested in the quantum phone.

The deputy head of InfoTeKS recalled that according to existing legislation, government agencies can only use certified information protection tools. For commercial structures, according to him, there is no restriction on the purchase of foreign means of protecting information, but now, due to sanctions, few developers of such solutions are ready to sell them to Russian companies, Dmitry Gusev said.[1]

2019: Pre-production sample of ViPNet QSS Phone

On May 28, 2019, InfoTeCS, a Russian developer and manufacturer of high-tech software and software and hardware information protection tools, and the Competence Center of the National Technology Initiative (NTI) - Center for Quantum Technologies (CCT) of the Physics Department of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov demonstrated the work of a pre-production sample of the first in Russia "quantum" phone ViPNet Qantum Security Phone Phone, part of the VI System. During the demonstration, a voice session was held between the CCT and the InfoTeCS office, protected on quantum keys and using an optical line provided by UL-Kom.

The ViPNet QSS Phone is a joint development of the Lomonosov Moscow State University and InfoTeCS, a partner of the university in the quantum consortium. Work on the product began in 2016 with the decision to support a local project within the framework of the MSU Development Program. Privacy of quantum telephone negotiations is based on persistent symmetric encryption of network traffic between subscribers using the quantum key distribution protocol. ViPNet QSS Phone is not susceptible to known attacks using quantum computers, which in the near future will be able to achieve performance sufficient to "hack" many of the cryptographic mechanisms widely used today. Before anywhere in the world, quantum cryptography devices were not used to protect the network traffic of individual users. This development provides an unmatched level of telephone confidentiality.

2017

On December 13, 2017, InfoTeCS announced the introduction of the ViPNet Quantum Phone, a system that demonstrates the integration of quantum key distribution equipment.

Presentation of the "ViPNet Quantum Phone," (2017)

The product was developed in the laboratory of quantum optical technologies of the Physics Department of Moscow State University, and VPN ViPNet (using the example of two products - ViPNet Client and ViPNet Connector). The ViPNet quantum phone allows you to connect workstations to installed ViPNet software and encrypt traffic between them using quantum key distribution. Quantum key distribution allows you to ensure a high level of security when transmitting data over untrusted (public) communication channels, helps to eliminate the threat of calculating security keys on quantum computers.

The ViPNet quantum telephone workstation is a personal computer in which an optoelectronic module is installed, connected directly to the quantum key distribution server by an optical fiber. The PC uses ViPNet software, modified specifically to work with this optoelectronic device.

The architecture of the data transmission network when using a quantum phone: the server is in the center of the star, clients are located on its rays.

Traffic between clients is encrypted directly, bypassing the server, which is used only for quantum key distribution.
