GymKit represents the platform for wireless synchronization of hours of Apple Watch and the sports equipment, allowing the gadget and the exercise machine to communicate for bigger convenience of the user.
How it works
The idea of GymKit consists assembled the most exact data during the training. Hours of Apple Watch collect a lot of information on the user, including the weight and growth, and can precisely measure heartbeat. Nevertheless, hours will not be so exact in determination of a distance and speed as the exercise machine therefore Apple and thought up GymKit for synchronization of the fitness equipment with the smartwatch".
With the GymKit platform the smartwatch will be able to obtain information from four types of the sports equipment: racetrack, elliptic exercise machine, stepper, exercise bike. As GymKit works only with these types of exercise machines, it is not necessary to select a training profile as the smartwatch will recognize type of the cardio-machine to which the user is connected.
To start work it is necessary to bring Apple Watch to the NFC reader on the exercise machine, compatible to GymKit, and to wait for the tactile answer from the smartwatch. During the first synchronization on the screen there is information on what functions GymKit has and that data will not be loaded into memory of the exercise machine. Upon termination of a training all information will be saved only in Apple Watch and mobile application of Activity. Exercise machines do not remember the synchronized smartwatch, and in the next training it will be necessary to connect devices again.
The GymKit platform is arranged in such a way that if the user forgot to note the beginning of a training on Apple Watch, you can be connected to the exercise machine through the NFC reader and synchronize data at any time. The smartwatch not only will begin to trace the rest of a training and will use the exercise machine timer for accounting of elapsed time of a training which was not written.[1]
