2017: Detection

In December, 2017 Kaspersky Lab announced detection of the Loapi virus which, infecting the smartphone, can heat it to such an extent that there will be an ignition.

The trojan is established on Android device under the guise of an antivirus or erotic applications. A link to it is opened at clique on an advertizing banner on the different websites. After installation the application persistently asks to grant the administrator's rights, and then interferes with loading of real antiviruses.

The malware can use the most various modules. So, the advertizing component is applied to aggressive demonstration of advertizing on the infected device and also to the hidden wrapping of the websites and accounts in social networks.

Experts turn on capability of Loapi to receive the list of applications, dangerous to themselves from the managing server. In case of detection of applications from this list on the smartphone the virus displays warning of detection of the malware and suggests to delete "threat". Warning is looped  — if the user refuses, it will arise again and will appear until the "correct" choice is made.

Loapi has various functionality. For example, it can sign users on paid services, organize from  the DDoS attacks smartphone and dobyat cryptocurrencies. Huge strain which will be experienced at the same time by the smartphone can kill it in literal sense. Kaspersky Lab told that at the test smartphone infected with a trojan because of overheating for two days the accumulator was blown up.

Thanks to modular architecture of a possibility of a trojan can extend. For example, at some completion Loapi can spy on users.

Specialists registered 45 thousand attempts of infection of Android smartphones with the Loapi Trojan virus.^[1]
