Voyage — "subsidiary" of the Udacity company developing service of online training which offers rates on tekhnlogiya of pilotless driving. The head of Voyage company Oliver Cameron headed open source the Udacity project on pilotless driving before he founded the company. Sebastian Thrun, the president of Udacity and the founder of the project of Google unmanned vehicles, some time was also the president of Voyage company while it had not to leave because of the conflict.
2018: Start of the robotaxi
On January 10, 2018 the startup of Voyage which manages the park of unmanned vehicles, announced start of the robotaxi in the largest in the USA the settlement for aged — The Villages (it is located to the north from Orlando (State of Florida). The company intends to develop actively new business thanks to attraction of $20 million investments in 2017.
Thus, in The Villages settlement in Florida pilotless taxi will go on roads with a total length of 1000 km. There live 125 thousand people and there are 54 thousand houses. Inhabitants will be able to call the pilotless taxi through the mobile application created in Voyage.
At the first stage pilotless Voyage taxi will be controlled independently not completely — the insuring drivers will remain driving in case there will be a need to interfere. Also the startup will cooperate with the producer of 3D maps for Camera unmanned vehicles. Such type of partnership is necessary for the project which Voyage calls "the largest deployment (on the area) the park of unmanned vehicles in the world".
The company predicts high demand on the services among residents of The Villages. It is reported that Voyage provided a share in capital stock to owners of the settlement.[1]
