2021: UltraFine Display OLED Pro 65EP5G

On November 25, 2021 , LG Electronics (LG) introduced LG UltraFine Display OLED Pro, a professional OLED display with high image quality, on the Russian market. The model is equipped with the necessary functionality for video processing specialists, television and film studios.

OLED technology provides LG UltraFine Display OLED Pro with more than 8 million self-illuminating pixels, offering optimal black color and accurate color rendering for realistic images and experience interacting with presented video content.

In addition, LG OLED Pro reproduces high image quality due to wide color correction capabilities. In particular, it is possible to change the color temperature, R/G/B color gain, selection of color coordinates (Native (sRGB )/DCI-P3/BT709/SMPTE-C (BT.2020 )/EBU/Adobe RGB/NTSC) to adjust the image closest to the perceived human eye.

LG UltraFine Display OLED Pro is equipped with specialized SDI and SFP + interfaces for professional video and broadcast processing. The display has 4 SDI interfaces and supports Single/Dual/Quad Link and various input/output resolutions (SD/HD/3G/6G/12G), providing the transmission of original video without compression and transcoding (50m transmission tested through 12G-SDI).

The display also provides full support for the HDR 10, HLG specifications and is compatible with the current HDR standard - Dolby Vision. LG OLED Pro frame-by-frame distinguishes metadata parameters, providing accurate contrast variation from the brightest part of the frame to the darkest.

To ensure homogeneity of the white balance, the OLED Pro, unlike most displays, uses up to 25 color, brightness and uniformity detection points, is calibrated using SuperSign WB software and specialized Calman software. High-precision calibration enables quality mapping to EBU Grade.

LG OLED Pro is equipped with a wide range of professional and specialized functionality. From programmable hardware setup keys, image setup profiles, Gen-lock interface and GPI device connection interface to a variety of software features. Software LG OLED Pro is equipped with the ability to output the volume levels of the SDI signal, compare HDR/SDR signals, increase the screen area, supports Time code protocol, has built-in templates for adjusting color transmission, supports screen markers, picture in picture, brightness spectrogram and vector form of color transmission, subtitles, etc.

For transfer and easy installation, the LG OLED Pro is equipped with handles, ensuring the safety of the display during its manipulation.

2018: 88-inch 8K OLED display

On January 15, 2018, LG Display announced the creation of the first 88-inch 8K OLED display. The OLED display has a high resolution with 33 million pixels (7680 × 4320).

The significance of developing an ultra-high resolution 8K panel is that higher resolution has been achieved without compromising brightness. Higher resolution is achieved by reducing the size of each pixel and therefore the aperture value, which inevitably reduces brightness. Since organic LEDs emit light themselves, they are less dependent on the aperture value and are thus optimal for 8K panels.

8K OLED displays can still be produced in a thin case, since devices with light emitting organic LEDs do not require backlight. In turn, LCD displays with a resolution of 8K inevitably become heavier and thicker because the backlight units need to be placed directly behind the panels to achieve the same level of brightness and image quality as in devices supporting the 4K format.

33 million light emitting organic pixels in each 8K OLED display create a clearer picture and high image quality.
