2018: Creation of the cameras replacing automobile mirrors

On January 17, 2018 godamitsubishi Electric announced creation as the company claims, "the inner tube which is the most made in the industry" which can replace mirrors. The technology is capable to distinguish different object types at distance to 100 meters and in advance warns the driver about approach of other cars that increases security on the road.

Development is based on the artificial intelligence of Maisart patented by Mitsubishi. It is expected that it will help to prevent a set of the accidents which are especially connected with sharp change of a lane.

In a product the new computational raspoznavatelny model which imitates visual behavior of the person is applied quickly to be focused on the respective areas under review. As representatives of the company say, rather simple algorithms of object recognition allow to use such technology in real time even on normal cars.

The artificial intelligence technology of Maisart developed especially for not expensive devices is capable to distinguish several object types – pedestrians, cars and motorcycles. In comparison with normal cameras the maximum distance of detection of an object using new technology increases from 30 to 100 meters, and the accuracy of recognition of an object increases from 14% to 81%.

Besides, it is going to enter the analysis of images taking into account changes between the personnel eventually and also to increase efficiency of use of cameras at night and at adverse weather conditions.

For the first time the cars equipped with the system of cameras were approved for use in Europe and Japan in 2016. And the first commercial mirrorless cars, as expected, will be put in the Japanese production in the 2019th.^[1]
