Wave Clinical Platform System of forecasting of deterioration in health

Product
The name of the base system (platform): Artificial intelligence (AI, Artificial intelligence, AI)
Developers: ExcelMedical
Branches: Pharmaceutics, medicine, health care

2018: Approval to use

In January, 2018 the Management of the USA on control of foodstuff and medicines (FDA) approved the first-ever prediction algorithm of sudden death. The Wave Clinical Platform system developed by ExcelMedical company is capable to trace physiological indicators of patients by means of algorithms of artificial intelligence, predicting sharp deterioration in a status.

The developed algorithm is capable to reveal the smallest changes in the vital indicators of the patient and in advance (in 6 hours) to warn doctors about potential critical condition. The algorithm Visensia Safety Index which traces physiological indicators, in particular, a warm rhythm, arterial blood pressure and body temperature is the cornerstone of the specified system.

The AI system preventing sudden death is approved to use

A system can also monitor joint changes of several vital indicators. For example, small increase in arterial blood pressure in itself not necessarily indicates a serious problem, but in a combination to decrease in a saturation of blood oxygen or reduction of frequency of respiratory movements of the patient signals about deterioration in a status. Warning of critical condition of the patient comes to the database, or on the connected smart devices (the tablet or phone).

According to representatives of ExcelMedical, hospitals lack personnel, and the growing number of elderly patients only aggravates a situation. ExcelMedical carried out three stages of clinical trials of technology in the Medical center of the University of Pittsburgh. Tests confirmed system effectiveness. Use of the program significantly reduced quantity of sudden deaths among elderly patients.

In the next years the company is going to develop the end-to-end systems allowing to use the platform together with more exact devices for collecting of biometric data. Also it is supposed that the algorithm can be used not only in hospitals, but also at home, for example, for observation of lonely elderly relatives.[1]
