Results of Smart IDReader application

Alfa-Bank summed up the results of a pilot project conducted in early 2018 on the use of Smart IDReader identification technology by visiting managers in mobile applications when working with premium customers. The bank decided to use the service developed by Smart Engines to work with all customers.

Smart IDReader Pilot

In January 2018, Alfa-Bank announced the launch of a pilot project in which Smart IDReader, developed by Smart Engines, is used by the owners of the Maximum + service package in the mobile applications of visiting managers for working with premium customers. The work on integrating recognition libraries into the mobile application was carried out by IT specialists of the bank.

Alfa-Bank's mobile application is designed to serve premium clients of the bank outside branches, which includes services for applying for various banking products. Before the introduction of automatic recognition technologies, data was entered from documents manually.

As of January, in the application of Alfa-Bank on the basis of Smart Engines technologies, recognition of the first reversal of the passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation was implemented. In order for the bank manager to enter information about the client, it is enough for him to put the smartphone camera on the document for several seconds. During this time, Smart IDReader recognizes all the necessary data, and they will be automatically entered into the corresponding fields of the completed application form.

Smart IDReader can recognize documents in the video stream on the device itself without transferring images for processing to external information systems. The technology does not impose high demands on computing resources and is optimized for working even on smartphones with low-resolution video cameras, indicated in Smart Engines.

The Alfa-Bank application, equipped with the document recognition function, is designed to work on mobile devices OS iOS with 7 Android and 4.0.
