At the beginning of February, 2018 it became known of large purchase of the Apple smartphones by the New York police. This project city bodies for protection of public order perform transition from the Windows platform to iOS.
According to New York Daily News, for police of Manhattan 36 thousand iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus smartphones are purchased. Devices will help to patrol streets and to look for criminals. For example, by means of phones law enforcement officers will be able to communicate with the colleagues, to watch orientations, to read messages from the headquarters and to monitor social networks for search of criminals.

Earlier New York police used the Nokia smartphones working at Windows Phone OS. They were bought during the period from 2014 to 2016 within the program worth $160 million which assumed cardinal updating of work of police. When Microsoft stopped support of Windows Phone, the equipment on this platform became less safer that is unacceptable for state bodies.
After purchase of iPhone police officers will hand over tubes of Nokia, all data from memory of phones will be erased, and then devices will be back sold to the producer.
As notes the edition, transition to iPhone 7 will become free for the New York City Police Department as the project is executed within the contract which is earlier signed with AT&T operator on updating of phones.[1]
