As Ukraine is going to get rid of export of nuclear waste of the NPP to Russia

The Centralized Storage of the Fulfilled Nuclear Fuel (CSFNF) in Ukraine in an exclusion zone of the Chernobyl NPP.

The storage is intended for long storage of fuel from the Rivne, Southern Ukrainian and Khmelnitsky nuclear power plant which is now taken out to Russia.

2017: Construction start

On July 6, 2017 Energoatom obtained the license of State inspection of nuclear regulation of Ukraine for construction of TsHOYaT, and construction began in November, 2017.

The construction contract was won by the American company Holtec International. Project cost is estimated at 1.4 billion dollars of the USA, are going to accept in commercial operation in 2020-2022. The project will be finished in 16.5 years fully.

2012: The Verkhovna Rada adopted the law on placement of TsHOYaT, but there is no money

In 2012 the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the law on placement of TsHOYaT. But construction was postponed as Ukraine did not have enough for it means.

2009: The feasibility statement is approved

In 2009 the feasibility statement on the TsHOYaT project was approved.

2005: Holtec International wins the tender for construction of TsHOYaT

In 2004-2005 Ukraine announced plans for construction of the Centralized Storage of the Fulfilled Nuclear Fuel (CSFNF) in an exclusion zone of the Chernobyl NPP.

The tender which Holtec International won was held.
