1996
The Chumak company for the first time provided the ketchup to the Ukrainian consumers. Earlier in regulating documents of State Department on quality control, in the register of foodstuff, the name "ketchup" was not used - the name "tomato sauce" was the next analog.
The Chumak company successfully lobbied introduction of the term "ketchup", and began to produce the first ketchup in Ukraine. By this time belongs and began participation of the company in public life of the region. Chumak became the permanent general sponsor of Tavriysky games, the largest musical festival of Ukraine. It was expression of gratitude to the Southern region which in ancient times called Tavriya.
1997
The distribution network of Chumak company covered all Ukraine. The company buys the second production – old cannery in Skadovsk of the Kherson region. After complete reconstruction of factory the Chumak company could begin processing of ripe Kherson tomatoes within several hours after collecting of vegetables. Also the company created the first mayonnaise of the European quality in Ukraine. This mayonnaise made great success in the market and at consumers. This year is also marked by the beginning of cooperation with McDonalds: the company became their first supplier in the territory of the CIS. At first cucumbers, and then ketchup and mayonnaise - products which "began to be delivered constantly in McDonalds.
1998
The Chumak company purchased two more production factories in Kakhovka – this time for production of sunflower oil. One of them, the abandoned factory on production of reinforced concrete structures, was turned into the modern plant on production of sunflower oil within six months. It was the first plant on production of sunflower oil of such level in the region.
1999
Chumak implements new environmentally friendly packaging - Ekolin which connects a natural carbonate and plastic. The first bottle of the Chumak sunflower oil was released, and the company quickly took the second place in the market of butylated sunflower oil in Ukraine. The Chumak company made a big contribution to improvement of technology of cultivation of vegetables of all Kherson region, having for the first time implemented the system of drop irrigation in Ukraine. From Sweden pipes for the irrigation system were brought to cover 20 hectares of the earth. A system was installed in the field which the company leased. Results were impressive: local farmers could collect 80 tons of tomatoes from one hectare. It twice beat a record of Soviet period, and was by 5 times bigger, than gathered before establishment of the irrigation system earlier. In the end of the year, according to survey conducted by the newspaper "Kiyevskiye Vedomosti", "Chumak" it was recognized as one of the famous brands in Ukraine. For this time the company made about 80 types of products in different categories which reflected tastes and customs of the Ukrainian consumers.
New millennium
2000
This year, on a change of two centuries, the company grew by 78% as result of successful work of a command of sales and the correct positioning of products. Chumak owns the biggest field of cucumbers in Europe. Same year both factories on processing of sunflower oil merged in one - "Chumak Oil". Chumak also began cooperation with leading Argentina food Molinos de la Plata company, producing sunflower oil under the Molinos trademark.
2001
The company started the most bigger plant in the country for processing of tomatoes on site of old cannery in Skadovsk. It was the only factory in Ukraine with a full stroke of production – from fresh tomatoes to an end product. Chumak became the only producer of tomato juice from fresh tomatoes, but not from a tomato concentrate. Chumak created the second trademark - Darina in which integrated high quality for reasonable price. Began production in packaging, popular for Ukraine, with Darina Chumak "doy-pack ice". The high level of quality of production of the company was once again confirmed with the fact that the company won the tender for production of the Calvé ketchup for Unilever company.
2002
For 2002 the Chumak ketchup won the competition "Choice of Year" twice. The same year the government of Ukraine awarded Chumak with the medal "For Revival of Ukraine" of the first degree for "The significant contribution of the company to economy of Ukraine". During this period the company found several considerable partners. Cooperation with Orkla Fudz became the beginning of a new stage in development of food production "Chumak", having enriched the company with useful experience in the field of marketing and sales.
2003
The Chumak company offered consumers tomato paste in new convenient packaging of Tetra Classic. "The tomato pyramid" became one of the most popular packagings of tomato paste in Ukraine as was an optimal disposable portion of tomato paste for many Ukrainian dishes. Then the line of preserved foods a premium - qualities which included adjika, sweet pepper and cherry - tomatoes was started. In December, 2003 the Chumak company put in production ketchups in soft packaging (doy-pack ice) which quickly won popularity among Ukrainians, thanks to high quality and unsurpassed taste. In Kiev the office of the company where there are marketing department and sales department was opened.
2004
Sales to the company considerably grew, and the Chumak brand became known to wider audience thanks to growth of network of sales and start of new products. This and Provence mayonnaise in 200 ml soft packagings was put in production that was a good competitive step. The product line was expanded two tastes: "This easy" and Appetizing. Later Chumak mayonnaise "This easy" and Appetizing was provided in buckets of 1 kg and 2 kg that made these products more attractive to catering establishments. In May the updated line of the Kukharsky Chumak sauces started. Four different tastes were offered consumers: classical, with vegetables, with spices, with herbs. Sauces made great success in the market of Ukraine.
2005
In 2005 Chumak occupied considerable market shares on all main categories. New types of ketchup and mayonnaise and also target offers for catering establishments became latest news. Chumak took part in development of the market of sauces seasonings, having started two lines of new products: sauces seasonings and salad gas stations "Salad +".
2006
Year of start of the new advertizing campaign focused on the fact that the Chumak ketchups are the only Ukrainian ketchups without preservatives and dyes, available in soft packaging.
2007
The Chumak company puts into operation in Kakhovka (The Kherson region) the plant on processing of fresh tomatoes, largest in Central and Eastern Europe. In communication by start of the new plant, for the purpose of increase in efficiency of processing of tomatoes and quality improvement of products, the Chumak company made the decision to stop processing of tomatoes at Skadovsky cannery. The equipment and technologies of the leading European manufacturers are used to processing of tomatoes at the Chumak plant that provides exclusive efficiency of processing of tomatoes and high quality of products.
2008
In 2008 capacity of plant on processing of tomatoes doubled and was 2,500,000 kg of tomatoes daily. Besides, the Chumak company implemented new technology for production of mayonnaise without preservatives. In March, 2008 Dragon Capital and East Capital Bering Ukraine Fund investment company jointly acquire 70% of shares of Chumak company at one of its founders - Professor Hans Rausing. Same year the construction of new office in the city of Kakhovka was completed.
2009
The Chumak company builds the plant on production of pasta in Kakhovka. The approximate term of introduction of the plant to operation – December, 2009.
Today
2010
2010 – The new factory on production of pasta was started. At the enterprise the types of pasta which are most demanded by the Ukrainian consumers are made: "Tubules", Feathers, Spiralka, Turtle, Vermicelli, Horns. In assortment of TM "Chumak" pasta appeared in 2006, however till 2010 products of this commodity category were manufactured only in Russia. Construction of factory was begun in 2009 and finished in 2010 Investments into the project made $3 million.
The product, absolutely new to the Ukrainian market, – spaghetti sauces for pasta is also started. In total there are four types of special sauces – Arabiat, Boskayol, Napolitan, Italian Bolognese. All sauces have informative packaging which tells about structure of sauces and also about the best method of their giving.
The new type of mayonnaise – Provansal is started. Provansal is classical mayonnaise, with sharp notes in taste and 67 percent fat content, made on the basis of traditional recipes of cooks of Provence.
Also new types of the With Paprika and With Garlic ketchups are started. Besides, popular tomato sauces are offered consumers: 'Sharp" and Tomato.
