MGTS increased safety of access to network equipment using the PAM solution Krontech

The Krontech Inc. company, the system provider of access control to network, announced on March 1, 2018 that the MGTS company selected the solution of Krontech Single Connect for upgrade of a control system of access (Access Control Systems, ACS) to network equipment.

Prerequisites

Having constructed one of the largest fiber-optical networks in Europe which extent is 45 thousand kilometers, MGTS provided a connectivity to advanced technology of GPON of 98% of households of Moscow — Alexander Trokhin, the director of the equipment and information technologies of MGTS told. — To ensure smooth operation of such large-scale network extremely important to protect it from potential errors in the course of setup of network equipment. For increase in security and controllability of network we held a competition and selected the solution which completely corresponds to our requirements and successfully passed test. It is sure that by means of the Krontech Single Connect system, we will be able to increase efficiency of access control to network equipment that will allow us to provide to clients all range of services of MGTS at higher level.

Project Progress

Preparation of the offer and pilot testing of the solution Krontech Single Connect for security network managements were exercised of joint efforts of specialists of Krontech and Technoserv. The project was executed by Krontech company in cooperation with a team of specialists of MGTS and Technoserv.

Within the project the system concept of access control existing in MGTS was analyzed and determinations of profiles, security policies, lists of the permitted and illegal commands are developed, the engineering design and the work documentation are prepared.

The full range of works on input of a system in operation included:

• installation and setup program and equipment,
• component integration of a system in the existing information and technical infrastructure,
• complete setup of a system according to the work documentation,
• start of a system in trial operation,
• collection of information about work during trial operation and the analysis of data retrieveds,
• adaptation of settings of a system according to the results of trial operation,
• training of specialists of MGTS,
• carrying out acceptance tests,
• start of a system in commercial operation and support of the solution.

Results

The implemented solution exercises control of action of operators of the equipment of technology network in terms of authorization, access rights and accounting of all actions of network engineers of MGTS.

Active project phase was executed in 2.5 months. Thanks to implementation of this solution MGTS received the centralized system of security of access to network devices developed specially under the requirements and taking into account features of network topology. We are glad that in this project were demanded experience of cooperation of Technoserv with telecom operators within creation and development of telecommunication networks and our examination in the development areas and information technology implementation for networks and communication systems using products of world vendors. Especially important for the project was examination of specialists of the Center of engineering competences of Technoserv of information security field for PAM (Priveleged Access Management) to solutions to which Krontech Single Connect belongs — Mikhail Byreev, the sales director of department on work with mobile telecom operators and the Internet companies of Technoserv commented on project results.
