2018: Announcement of Commit Assistant

On March 5, 2018 the Ubisoft company which is engaged in creation of video games provided the tool using the artificial intelligence (AI) under the name Commit Assistant which predicts errors in a program code of a game before their emergence.

Program codes from Ubisoft library approximately in 10 years of work are loaded into the application. AI analyzed where earlier mistakes in the code were made and what corrections were made for their correction. Such type of computer-based training allowed Commit Assistant to foretell when the programmer can enter a similar error next time.

Ubisoft provided the tool which can predict errors of programmers

According to the head of research and developments of Ubisoft of Yves Jacquier, use of artificial intelligence will help to increase efficiency of programmers by 20%. The company claims that Commit Assistant defines six of ten errors in the course of programming.

If developers do not find defects in the code independently, it will be made by testers of computer games then the development team should look for a part of the code in which there were errors. Such task is required considerable efforts. Determination of errors before receipt of a game in sale will save to developers up to 70% of expenses on elimination of defects, speak in Ubisoft.

The Commit Assistant tool is created by Ubisoft at cooperation with the University of Concordia which is going to publish scientific articles about technology, the cornerstone of the tool. It will help other developers to use this type of computer-based training for coding process improvement.

According to the Futurism portal, Ubisoft showed the new product which predeterminates errors in the code, at a conference in Montreal. Commit Assistant is already provided to some developers.[1]
