2019: Philips provided services of a teleradiology
On March 26, 2019 the Philips Healthcare company provided an expanded service portfolio of a teleradiology to provide to doctors access to methods of exact diagnostics and to solve a problem of the growing shortage of radiologists.
The new platform is supplied with the software of the cloud systems of archiving and transfer of images (PACS) and Vendor Neutral Archive (VNA). It can be used together with applications of expanded analytics and visualization for optimization of workflows. New tools allow radiologists to store, take, browse and analyze far off different images, such as results KT, MPT and radiological survey. These applications expand possibilities of inspection of patients, remote assessment given and drawing up account and also provide services of radiologists on demand.
The world market of a teleradiology is one of the most quickly growing segments of the radiological market and outsourcing of medical services. It is expected that it will become a significant part of the market of medical visualization in the next several years. The head of department of Philips Radiology Solutions Sham Sokka explained:
As health care systems around the world fight against constantly growing costs and the shortage of service providers, the teleradiology will become the key factor allowing to use optimum available resources for fall forward of work and accuracy of assessment. |
Philips already provides IT infrastructure for the advanced solutions in the field of telemedicine on the digital HealthSuite platform integrating consumers, patients and suppliers of medical services in a cloud ecosystem. New solutions supplement this platform and were is developed after acquisition of the platform for a teleradiology of Direct Radiology which services more than 300 hospitals, the centers of medical visualization and medical offices across all territory of the USA (by the end of March, 2019).[1]
2018
Start
The Royal Philips company, the world leader in development of solutions for health care, announced on March 22, 2018 start of the HealthSuite Insights platform for the purpose of development and application of analytics and the artificial intelligence (AI) in the key fields of health care.
HealthSuite Insights provides to scientists, clinical physicians, software developers and other representatives of health sector access to enhanced capabilities of storage and the analysis of medical data.
As envisioned by the company, the Insights Marketplace database, a part of HealthSuite Insights, will become the first ecosystem of data in which assets of Philips and other companies will be available to use and licensing. Initially Insights Marketplace offers assets only to Philips, including developments of research division of Philips Research company. The checked data of Philips will be added in 2018. According to plans of the company, in the end of the year the database will be replenished with the assets provided by the third parties.
According to the experts, AI technologies in health care have high potential for quality improvement of delivery of health care and improvement of results of treatment of patients. However development and deployment of such technologies in medicine — processes expensive and vremyazatratny. The HealthSuite Insights platform is just designed to facilitate the solution of logistic problems of use of AI in the research and clinical purposes, including to accelerate development of analytical solutions and to reduce the total cost of development of AI.
The quality of use of artificial intelligence depends on quality of data which you use together with it — Yeroyen Tas, the chief specialist on innovations and the strategy of Philips noted. — We developed the HealthSuite Insights platform for those who daily work with data of patients: doctors, consultants and heads of medical institutions. With HealthSuite Insights they can collect all necessary information on patients and use possibilities of artificial intelligence for early and exact diagnostics, timely treatment and as result, increases in efficiency of clinic. |
According to the statement of Philips, the tools and technologies implemented in the HealthSuite Insights platform already allow to use machine and deep learning in solutions of Philips for diagnostics and monitoring of patients and also in the field of oncology and genomics. Thanks to this Philips platform helps to understand better clinical and operational processes for increase in professionalism of workers of health care.
Announcement
On March 6, 2018 the Dutch company Philips presented the HealthSuite Insights platform intended for work with applications which are used by algorithms of the artificial intelligence (AI), in the field of health care at the HIMSS exhibition.
HealthSuite Insights offers scientists, software developers, clinical physicians and suppliers of medical services access to enhanced analytical capabilities and tools for creation and application of different applications based on AI. Philips uses this platform for systems management of AI which are applied in different devices of visualization and devices to a monitorging of patients and also to application development in the field of oncology and genetics.
That such platform could find application in the field of health care, it should break normal barriers for AI of models, i.e. analyze experimental data and be able to implement them on clinical Wednesday, - the leading specialist on the innovation strategy of Philips Jeroen Tas noted. |
Together with HealthSuite Insights Philips offers an application package of Insights developed by scientists of Philips Research. However by the end of 2018 the company is going to expand a scope of the new platform and to involve over it the third parties.
The market of applications Insights will give to service providers in the field of health care an opportunity to share valuable assets of AI, - Dzheron Tas explained. – These assets can be loaded into cloud archive or directly be used in the local area network of hospital depending on preferences of the user. |
Use of AI is quite proved within value-oriented health care though development and deployment of such applications can be quite resource-intensive and expensive, said in the press release.
HealthSuite Insights is the integrated platform which provides the sufficient computing power and tools necessary for creation and applications launch of AI, - Tas explained. - He is created especially for experts in the field of health care and allows to develop applications which can easily be implemented in workflows of hospitals.[2] |
