In March, 2018 the U.S. Department of State announced creation a blockchain system which is designed to help with fight against use of forced labor around the world. The Russian company Emercoin assisted in implementation of the idea.

The platform was created by the American IT company Bitfury Group, and Emercoin began to provide a blockchain services. The producer of carbonated drinks Coca-Cola which role is not specified also participates in the project.

According to Humanity United, Coca-Cola is included into ten the global companies which undertook to conduct by 2020 in total 28 researches on questions of use of forced labor. Producers of food and drinks do not cope with the solution of this problem, experts note.

According to the International Labour Organization (  International Labor Organization — the UN specialized agency dealing with issues of regulation of labor relations), by 2018 nearly 25 million people around the world work in the conditions of forced labor. Most (47%) of them live in the Pacific Rim.

The project of State Department on fight against forced labor assumes creation of the protected register including information on workers and their contracts. This solution is used by a blockchain system for authentication of information and digital notarial services, reported Reuters in Blockchain Trust Accelerator (BTA) non-profit organization which also participates in this project.

It is supposed that new development will help to increase transparency and process performance of job management. In State Department which will provide expert knowledge in the field of labor protection, noted that it is about the first large a blockchain project of department in the social sphere.

According to the deputy assistant Secretary of State Scott Busby though the blockchain cannot force the companies to comply conditions of employment contracts, he can create the approved satisfaction flow which will promote accurate performance of these contracts.[1]
