Jeddah Tower

Jeddah Tower (earlier known as Kingdom Tower and Mile-High Tower) is the project of one of the highest buildings in the world. Saudi Arabia is under construction in 32 km to the north from Jeddah.

The skyscraper of Jeddah Tower more than 1 km high will be located in the territory of the area of Jeddah Economic City (JEC), of 5.3 mln m ².

An architect of the building is the architectural bureau of Adrian Smith, the initiator of all project — the Saudi prince Al-Waleed bin Talal.

Jeddah Tower is a vertical city which is designed to diversify economy of Saudi Arabia according to the program of development of Saudi Vision 2030. The smart environment will provide broad use of digital technologies in everyday life and business.

History

• As of February 25, 2018 65 floors were complete.
• As of October 22, 2017 56 floors were complete, and the central core containing mines of elevators and staircases reached 63 floors.
• As of July 24, 2016 construction of a core reached 61 floors (246 m), construction of floors — the 50th floor.
• By July, 2016 the skyscraper reached a point 42 floors.
• On February 12, 2014 works on construction of the base ended.
• By May 22, 2013 the active phase of construction began. Drilling works were finished in December, 2013.
• In October, 2012 the German firm Bauer received the contract for construction of the base for a skyscraper of 110 meters in depth.
• In August, 2011 prince Al-Waleed bin Talal signed the agreement with development company of Bin Laden Group, at the same time, architectural firm of Adrian Smith, AS+GG Architecture, announced that work on the project of a tower comes to an end, height will be it 1007 meters. It was stated that the work on the project of a zero cycle is completed, the tender for carrying out drilling works is announced. The cost of the tower at a design stage was estimated at $1.2 billion, and the cost of all Kingdom City complex — at $20 billion.
