2018: Leaving Docker
On March 28, 2018 the founder and the technical director of Docker Solomon Hykes announced resignation less than a year later after change of the CEO of the company which is engaged in development of the corporate software.
I announce the leaving Docker — the companies which I helped to create ten years ago and since then built. As a rule, leaving of the founder is considered a drama event. Unfortunately, I am forced to report that reality not such fascinating. For many years I had a set of positions in Docker. Now I have new also the last — the active board member, the major shareholder and, hope, the exacting user of Docker — wrote Hayks in the blog of the company. |
He reported that he ceased to participate in daily affairs of Docker and will help to find the new technical director to it on replacement. This candidate should have extensive work experience in the large international companies at the positions assuming deliveries and a software maintenance, 34-year-old Solomon Hayks told.
According to him, Docker without hype turned into the large producer of corporate solutions who is showing explosive growth and having community from several million developers. According to Bloomberg, in 2017 the company attracted $75 million investments and received business valuation in $1.3 billion.
Hayks announced resignation approximately in 11 months after Docker was headed by the former top manager of SAP Steve Singh who released the CEO of the veteran of the company Ben Golub from a duty. The last, having left Docker, created the blockchain startup of Storj. What Solomon Hayks will be engaged after the leaving in, is not reported.
One of creators of the Kubernetes system Brendan Burns of Microsoft said that all community Kubernetes is grateful to Hayks for his vision, passion to development and inspiration.[1]
