Biography
At the chief minister Narendra Modi who headed Gujarat four terms since 2001, this state became the engine of economic development of the central and western regions of India. In 2013 polls showed that Narendra Modi is supported by many representatives of more than 300-million Indian middle class and business community who were imposed by its aspiration to finish corruption and to create more transparent and attractive conditions for business.
Narendra Modi's star in India began to rise in the summer of 2013 when at that time the leading opposition force of the country — Bharatiya Janata Party it is unexpected for many selected it the head of the campaign headquarters. Thus, in case of a victory of BJP on elections of 2014 Narendra Modi had to become the new prime minister.
At a party congress of BJP then it was decided that at elections the batch will be led by the chief minister of the State of Gujarat Narendra Modi famous for nationalist views and having reputation of one of the most contradictory Indian politicians.
"The senior leaders put in me trust. We will invert everything upside down to achieve the objective — to construct India without "The Indian national congress" — Narendra Modi promised then.
2014: Prime minister of India
The general approach to the political opponents unrolled in 2013-2014, Narendra Modi began in the city of Shivy, sacred for Hindus of the whole world — Varanasi — Mecca of the Hindu world.
During the election campaign Nardendra Modi relied on traditional Hindu values, the appeal to great spiritual heritage of India and ideology of "hindutva" (in translation from Sanskrit — "indusskost"). As a result of "hindutv" also formed the basis of ideology of the Indian ruling class.
The active role in promotion of a hindutva in addition to Narendra Modi was played by the president of Bharatiya Janata Party Rajnath Singh — the politician who was earlier heading the government of the State of Uttar Pradesh in the territory of which there are main cultural monuments to antiquity and the sacred city of Varanasi.
So, Rajnath Singh undertook eradication of others influence — English, having urged Indians to learn ancient Sanskrit — language of Mahabharata. Someone took this offer in India of the 21st century as a joke, someone — as political public relations. However the thirst for Sanskrit which suddenly woke up at one of leaders of opposition of that time was explained not by questions of linguistics. As approaching elections of 2014 Bharatiya Janata Party was engaged in intense search of the new superidea capable to help it to come to the power. The appeal to the history of India and religion of Hinduism covered by dust of centuries became this idea also. It seemed, it is only necessary to shake this dust — and the new political mythology will be for BJP relevant help in race for power.
Let's remind that before the formula "The Sparkling India" was an electoral slogan of BJP. However this, apparently, safe formula of BJP did not help — on elections of 2008 the victory escaped from her hands at the last minute, the government of "The Indian national congress" led by Manmohan Singh in power set in.
The aspiration of the Indian nationalists to return to spiritual sources revealed one of paradoxes of development of modern India. Than more country opened to the outside world, being westernized and becoming a part of "the global village", especially active were attempts to save own cultural and religious beginning. Leaders of BJP liked to play originality — tried to prohibit genetically modified products, to oppose a beauty contest, to suggest to pass the nations to dead Sanskrit.
Having sensationally led the country after elections of 2014, Narendra Modi from the first days of stay in power confirmed the intention to build other India. He over and over again let know that process of rising from colonial knees, reconsiderations of own history, strengthening of spiritual clamps and determination of the development strategy for India is not finished yet.
