2018: The entry of IBM for creation of network of digital identification

At the beginning of April, 2018 the IBM corporation joined private non-profit fund Sovrin Foundation which works on global hostless system of identification on the basis of blockchain technology.

In an interview of Reuters the chairman of fund Phil Windley reported that IBM will help to create network of digital identification for physical persons and legal entities, having provided the hardware capacities, security aids and network capabilities.

According to the organization, other international IT companies led by Telekom Innovation laboratories, the innovation research division of the German telecommunication giant Deutsche Telekom also participate in the Sovrin project.

How we live and we work on the Internet, significantly differs from the physical world. Creating the global system of digital identification, Sovrin tries to make the online world same authentic and interactive as the physical world — Uindli in a conversation with journalists said.[1]

The identification network Sovrin uses technology of the distributed register (distributed ledger technology, DLT) or a blockchain to provide safe exchange cryptographic with the signed registration information for digital identification of the personality.[2]

We consider that implementation a blockchain will help to fix new model of trust using which individuals and the organizations will be able safely to exchange confidential and registration information without any intermediary — the head of division of IBM Blockchain Marie Wieck in the statement of accession of corporation to Sovrin initiative noted.[3]

IBM does not give value assessment of the contribution to Sovrin. Blue giant actively participates in different a blockchain projects and aims to remain in vanguard of developments of this promptly developing sphere.

As of April, 2018 the identification network Sovrin works in the limited mode, but to the middle of year a system will be more widely available, Uindli promised.
