2018: Implementation of digital car numbers in Dubai
In April, 2018 it became known of implementation in Dubai of digital registration signs for cars. The new technology which received the name Tag to Connect represents the "smart" screen which will replace a traditional metal plate, reports the Emirates edition Khaleej Times with reference to the representative of Management of roads and transport of Dubai (RTA) of Sultan Abdullah Al Marzouqi.
Such number will exempt you from need to come every year to the service center for updating of numbers — registration of the car will be automatically updated after maintenance inspection — he reported. |
Change of registration number on a digital board will be performed in mobile application or via the RTA website. In case of stealing of cars on the display the relevant information will be displaid. Besides, the screen will announce drivers traffic jams or road accident on the way of the movement on the basis of the data arriving from the command center RTA.
At last, digital license plates will facilitate payment of city parkings and paid sections of highways by means of the e-wallet tied to a system. Authors of the project promise a broad spectrum of services which motorists thanks to Tag to Connect can use.
In April, 2018 the first working samples of digital car license plates are already ready and began to be established on vehicles in the test mode. Tests will last till November then machines will begin to be equipped with new license plate numbers in a mass order.
At first it is necessary to understand how "smart" license plate numbers will be able to transfer climate of the country as humidity and dust will begin to influence data transmission and it is necessary to define lifecycle of such signs. Project cost of Tag to Connect is not set.[1]
