The planetarium in St. Petersburg, with a diameter of dome of 37 meters, equipped with the most powerful for the beginning of 2018 a fulldome projective system in 200,000 lumens, came to project permission 10K, having become the only thing in the world the planetarium maintaining such image quality. At the moment in the world there are only 3 planetaria capable to work with the image no more than 8K.
The projective system constructed based on professional graphics of NVIDIA Quadro ensures synchronous and seamless functioning of 40 projectors of high resolution 'a frame in a frame'. When opening Planetarium No. 1 the previous record of 'stitching' of projectors in a dome of planetarium making 24 projectors and also a record of diameter of a dome which belonged to 35-meter planetarium in the Museum of science of the city of Nagoya in Japan was broken.
A projective system is controlled the graphic processors NVIDIA Quadro P6000 which became the standard de facto in the field of professional visualization and creation of the polyscreen systems with high resolution. 'Creation of a projection of such scale and permission is possible only on the NVIDIA Quadro platform. An additional bonus of steel for us flexibility of setup and reliability of the equipment,' - Gudov Evgeny, the director of Planetarium says.
In addition to support of ultrahigh permission, feature of this planetarium is the possibility of carrying out forward translations of video of 360 degrees from concerts and sporting events and also mix and processing of video in real time which also happen on the graphic NVIDIA platform.
In April, 2018 in Planetarium installed 32nd a channel sound system, at the same time management of each separate column is provided by means of an ethernet-cable under the Ultranet protocol, but not standard sound cables as it became earlier. It provides signal transmission without noises and a possibility of coincidence tuning of each certain speaker.
