2018: Start of sales of S300 series

On April 17, 2018 the Toshiba company provided the updated line of internal hard drives of 2018. It was replenished with family of 3.5-inch HDD – the S300 Surveillance Hard Drive model is developed especially for video surveillance systems.

The S300 Surveillance Hard Drive series (S300) is family of reliable hard drives with enhanced capabilities of scaling. Devices will be suitable for dataflow control which round the clock arrive from surveillance cameras quantity up to 64 pieces. A series is expected high information transmission rate and is rather reliable to provide continuous record of video, noted in Toshiba.

The family of disks is available to video surveillance systems in options with a capacity of 4, 6, 8 and 10 TB that is 2 TB more in comparison with models of 2017. The time between failures of S300 series reaches one million hours, and the buffer of data is increased up to 256 MB. In devices the Stable Platter technology ("A stable plate") is used. Disks of this family support the large server systems with a possibility of preserving to 64 flows of video of high resolution at the same time, emphasized in Toshiba.

According to the developer, disks S300 are suitable for the body with 8 and more compartments for HDD, their workload reaches 180 TB in a year, rotational speed – 7200 RPM, the maximum speed of data transmission – 248 Mbps, and the term of the limited warranty is three years. The built-in RV sensors help to suppress vibrations on platforms from several HDD. The family can work with registrars for video surveillance systems (sNVR), digital registrars of observation systems (sDVR), hybrid sDVR (analog and IP) and arrays of RAID for observation.

Start of a series matched the announcement of the concept of Toshiba for internal and external hard drives "Write the history". At the heart of an initiative – understanding that the big ideas need the relevant decisions for data storage: reliable, effective, and, above all – safe, emphasized in Toshiba.

Each series of internal hard drives will be marked by the color corresponding to its purpose: NAS (N300) – gold, a line for high-performance and game PC (X300) – silver, disks for observation systems (S300) – green, streaming models of video (V300) – blue, disks for consumer and professional PCs and notebooks (P300, L200) – red, and models for corporate systems (Enterprise Capacity MG Series, Enterprise Performance AL Series) – dark blue. Marking will be displayed both on the label of the device, and on packaging that will help to be guided more simply in opportunities of each category of hard drives.

S300 series is available to buyers since April, 2018.
