The project started with an initiative of project office of lean production of TsFTO which was supported by the CIO of the Russian Railway Evgeny Charkin and the leaders of the Major Computer Center (MCC) of the Russian Railway. Specialists of GVTs and TsFTO jointly carried out the analysis of technology of printing of documents and also loads of the installed printers and multi-function printers.
It became clear that the multiple copying infrastructure of branch existing at that time has essential reserves for increase in efficiency. In particular, in the organization individual printers of different producers prevailed, there were no printing control facilities, there was no full monitoring because of what there could be long equipment downtimes.
The decision on reorganization of the park of the equipment and transition to the principle of pokopiyny printing was made. Thanks to professional selection and arrangement of the equipment it was succeeded to reduce a total quantity of printing devices three times: from 240 to 84 units. The priority was given to the general floor equipment. The line of a printing equipment was standardized – instead of "zoo" of devices from 65 models of four different producers 10 models of one vendor are used now.
In addition, the system of printing by ID cards was implemented. Such solution allows to manage printing process, to trace its volumes and to observe the security requirement and confidentiality. As a result all expenses of the customer are under control.
Directly project implementation took only several days and on July 20, 2017 it was handed over "turnkey". About a month later, at the end of August, the contractor of the project - the OSK Infotrans company - received the first positive monthly report.
In addition to optimization of the park of the copy equipment and, as a result, cutting of costs of branch for its maintenance and repair, we managed to increase transparency of printing process due to personification of a print of each copy, to organize the automated accounting, - the chief engineer of TsFTO Dmitry Murev noted. |
The implemented solution is implemented as service and includes updating and optimization of the equipment, purchase of supplies and spare parts, a full service support, pro-active monitoring and cost control thanks to existence of deep analytics, – the director of GVTs Igor Semyonov added. |
According to the first results of the project, thanks to implementation of new service, management personnel of TsFTO it was succeeded to reduce costs for printing and hardware maintenance by 26%. Results of this project confirm efficiency of further development of service of pokopiyny printing in the Russian Railway.
