Melon Fashion Group automated management of warehouse processes using the WMS system

On May 23, 2018 the Columbus company announced control automation by warehouse processes using the WMS system of retail network Melon Fashion Group.

For May 23, 2018 implementation of Columbus WMS covered processes of a warehouse of a retail store equipment of the company from more than 2500 SKU, five-level storage and of 2500 square meters. The warehouse of a retail store equipment Melon Fashion is separated into three zones: LOVE REPUBLIC, befree and ZARINA. Start of a system is performed on a retail store equipment of a brand of LOVE REPUBLIC. Further system implementation and on two other brands is planned.

In plans of the management of Melon Fashion Group a set of the ideas on development of the logistic transactions applied in the company. The customer looked for the platform which will be able to support not only the current, but also future business processes of a warehouse. Service and development of an old system required great efforts from the staff of the company therefore the management of Melon Fashion Group decided to pass to the WMS solution. Sharp need of the customer for transition from 'paper' management of a warehouse where all processes were executed manually, to the modern modes of work which are completely excluding manual methods of transfer and entering of information into the database was a main goal of implementation of future WMS. Important factors of transition to WMS were also the following tasks: increase in processing speed of orders, quality improvement of assembly and control of work of a warehouse online.

At the top level the project was separated into three main stages – diagnostics of processes of a warehouse, implementation of key functionality and integration with 1C, further development of the solution taking into account future needs of the customer. At the same time, owing to complexity of the processed goods, the stage of diagnostics was especially important both for the consultant, and for the customer – it gave understanding what processes are subject to automation what approaches to apply and what as a result it is necessary to implement the solution. One of factors of the project was the solution of the customer to establish the basic version of the program, with the minimum completions of functionality that in turn gave the chance to put the solution into operation in the minimum terms.

Columbus WMS allows to control the movement of each commodity unit, to plan accomplishment of tasks and to create the system of motivation of employees taking into account quantitative and qualitative results of work'. The WMS system from Columbus supports different types of the rack and shelf equipment and is integrated with any types of the weight equipment. It is especially relevant for Melon Fashion Group as the warehouse of the company has the complex organization. A large number of oversized storage locations, work with slozhnosostavny elements, the specifics in measurements of separate types of the equipment required non-standard approaches to the organization of address storage and automation of basic processes.

The employees of a warehouse, managers managing life activity of a warehouse work with Columbus WMS. For the purpose of reduction in cost of ownership of a system and for bigger independence of the partner of Melon Fashion Group selected a way of independent automation. The first acquaintance to the solution took place on integration test then training was continued on the working version of a system.

In further Melon Fashion Group plans development of the solution during which processes of cross docking, management of placement and the application for acceptance of loads by external partners will be processed.
