Parts about the project

On December 6, 2018 the EAE-Consult company shared with TAdviser parts about an implementation project of the SAP S/4HANA platform in Azure cloud. The project was executed during the period from August, 2017 to May, 2018.

The head of department of general-system infrastructure EAE-Consult Vitaly Volnyansky told about features of the solution, difficulties, results and perspectives of the project.

Objectives

The project pursued the following aims:

• transformation of business of the company due to use of additional opportunities in SAP S4/4HANA and the analytical reporting;
• cutting of costs for the maintenance of IT infrastructure;
• gaining experience of work with a product;
• operating time of competences and the offer of service in the market of information technologies;
• creation of a technology and digital core of the company for the current and future IT projects;
• replication of the solution on all enterprises of Ensi Group.

Work progress

The project lasted about a year – from making decision on transition to other platform before commercial operation. Directly installation of a system in a cloud took two weeks. Thanks to serious study of the project and flexible opportunities of a cloud of Microsoft it was succeeded to cut down overheads. All works, including integration of the platform with other information systems, are executed only by specialists EAE-Consult without involvement of third-party experts, emphasized in the company.

Results

Stated purposes were achieved: in the company the powerful platform of the last generation is implemented, economy due to migration in a cloud and failure from land servers made 65%, and the project team got unique experience and competences.

Among the main project deliverables:

• seamless integration of processes of the enterprise is carried out (external systems – DirectumRX document flow, time-sheets of Workpoint, EHP8 SAP HCM HR system – are integrated with SAP S/4 HANA on the basis of the bus Azure Logic Apps);
• access to SAP from any place in the world is organized;
• significant economy of the IT budget is received (65% for DPC, reduction basis support from 8 to 2 specialists, a system scaling option for the periods of a high load, the speed of system deployment is reduced from 2 months to several weeks).

Main characteristics of the project:

• The version of SAP S/4HANA — 1709 SP02.
• Productive start — 5/1/2018.
• Number of users: 150, it will be in the long term increased up to 300.
• Project scope is FI, CO, MM, SD, SL, PS; the Fiori interface, integration with the adjacent systems.

SAP implementation of S/4HANA in Azure cloud

On June 4, 2018 the EAE-Consult company announced start of the SAP S/4HANA platform in Azure cloud. All works, including integration with other corporate systems, were executed by employees EAE-Consult. On the basis of the fulfilled technology and a solution architecture specialists EAE-Consult are ready to execute implementation of S4/HANA in Azure cloud for any scale of business and industry accessory.

Conversion of a corporate landscape EAE-Consult with SAP HANA on S/4 HANA and deployment passed in a cloud of Azure during the period from December 28, 2017 to January 10, 2018 according to the scenario brownfield (with engl. "secondary building") – after transfer in a cloud installation on the platform with change of the sizes of a landscape is made.

Deployment of solutions was performed step by step. The first users could work in it already right after transition to a cloud. For June 4, 2018 project scope – modules of management of finance (FI), material flows (MM), sold (SD), projects (PS), the module of controlling (CO); Fiori interface.

Creation of hybrid IT infrastructure brought to EAE-Consult company considerable benefits. Cloud solutions of Azure allow to be focused on the best service of the clients, to avoid purchase costs and support of the equipment, at the same time it is possible to scale or change quickly parameters depending on business needs. In turn, S/4HANA at the same time with decrease in load of personnel allows to reach bigger high-speed performance, transparency and controllability of business processes, increase in productivity and broad variability of updates. It is going to scale the solution on all enterprises of holding.
