FracSolver is the simulator of hydraulic fracturing of layer (GRP) for the oil-extracting companies.

2018: Announcement

Geonavigation Technologies company together with the Oil and gas center (NGTs) MIPT on June 5, 2018 announced creation of the simulator of hydraulic fracturing of layer under the name FracSolver for increase in efficiency of oil recovery. Development is focused, first of all, on the Russian market and is intended to compete with import analogs which hold a leading position in a domestic segment of oil production.

Technology of hydraulic fracturing of layer (GRP) — one of methods of an intensification of production and increase in oil recovery. The Russian oil-extracting companies for accomplishment of design and optimization of GRP use the software of the western vendors. The FracSolver simulator will allow to make process of production in difficult geological conditions more effective and safe. New development will become the import-substituting tool for the domestic companies, noted in Geonavigation technologies.

Integration of the GRP simulator into modules allows to make all chain of calculations in one software solution for geomechanical, geonavigation and petrophysical modeling. As a result of the carried-out modeling the simulator defines design of hydraulic fracturing, calculates the strategy of downloading and geometry of a crack which will be received as a result, its characteristics and the carrying-out capabilities. Development "is also "able" to calculate technical and economic efficiency of a crack.

Specialists added in the software product one more feature which is not, according to them, in similar developments of other companies — modeling of multiple hydraulic fracturing of layer.

It is important because cracks, changing a field of tension, influence disclosure, a form and curvature of each following crack — developers explained. — Understand what will be this influence, means to prevent risks and unproductive dead times.

Development will become one more module of the platform for "smart drilling", however it will be possible to apply it and as a part of the platform, and as a separate element of a third-party information system. The GRP simulator is integrated with any software which delivers mechanical and petrophysical calculations, Yury Petrakov, the chief engineer of Geonavigation Technologies company told. According to him, use of the simulator will improve field economy, thanks to cost reduction in the course of drilling and prolongation of life of the field, will allow to take the maximum quantity of hydrocarbons and, besides, will positively affect an ecological situation near the well.

The foreign simulators widespread in Russia use engineering one-dimensional models. Advantages in simplicity and speed of calculations of these developments are leveled by low accuracy. However their use is most effective in standard situations. We during creation of the simulator used the 3D Planar model. These are reduced the speed of calculations a little, but significantly increased their accuracy and allowed to use a product practically at any levels of complexity of development of design — Natalya Zavyalova, the senior research associate of NGTs MIPT said.
