2018: Announcement
On June 9, 2018 it became known that the first samples of the superproductive Russian 28-nanometer Multiclet S1 processor for mining (production of cryptocurrency) should be issued approximately in September, 2018, and the first devices miners on its basis — in November. The founder of the RMC project on creation of this "iron", the Internet ombudsman, the head and the owner of Radius group Dmitry Marinichev told about it. Also he noted that there is a work on topology of the processor and in parallel there are works on device circuit engineering.
On the website of MultiClet company, the direct developer of the processor at the end of May, 2018 there was for Multiclet S1 the first version of set of development tools (SDK, software development kit). The instrumental program set under Linux includes the beta of the compiler based on LLVM 6.0, a link editor, the debugger and software on the assembler. Then intermediate results of development of Multiclet S1 were presented in the blog of the project though final more or less exact characteristics of the chip as reported in MultiClet company, will appear only by the end of summer.
Developers state that the created Multiclet S1 processor will consist of four clusters integrated by the bus AXI. Each cluster will include four cores, and each of them, in turn, from four so-called cages — processor devices which command system is focused on accomplishment of computing tasks. For storage and access to large volumes of data to the bus two DDR4 controllers (including the physical layer), and for interaction with the external environment — the PCIe controller (also with the physical layer) on four "lines" will be connected.
"Memory for Multiclet S1 from the program point of view represents a virtual array byte-addressable and address range [0÷(32 ** 2)-1], said in the user guide for processor software. — The addresses are separated between a programs memory (data) and peripheral devices. A part of memory is displayed on an internal memory of the processor which represents the static random access memory placed on a crystal. The internal memory is separated into two blocks with independent access in one of which programs (RM) are placed, and in the second — given (DMs)".
Describing the hardware, curators note completion of development and working off of the code of a cluster on tests of RTL (register transfer level is the level of register transfers).
Perspectives of implementation of Multiclet S1 as separate commodity unit, but not as a part of specific payments for mining, are not obvious at all. As developers until in the project the operability of the processor and device on it is proved, "about any market and the speech cannot be" noted.
The MultiClet company reported that the initial circulation of processors will be released, proceeding from need to equip with them 25 thousand multicellular miners — as well as it was stated in ICO (sale of tokens of the project).[1]
