National university "Odessa Sea Academy"

The national university "Odessa Sea Academy" is the sea higher educational institution in Ukraine located in Odessa.

At the university researches on development of the international sea policy, economy, the national system of sea education, safety of navigation, navigation, technical operation of the fleet are performed; the integrated intellectual complexes and systems; technologies of ship repair; technology equipment; world sea radio communication; systems of navigation equipping and hydrographic providing Ukraine.

For 1991 — 2006 in academy over 250 scientific developments are executed, 17 doctor's and 42 master's theses are protected, 68 monographs are published, 52 copyright certificates and the patent are received.

History

2015

On June 15, 2015 the Cabinet of Ukraine order No. 623-r reorganized the Odessa national sea academy into the National university "Odessa Sea Academy" on August.25, 2015 the President of Ukraine supported by the decree the offer of the Cabinet of Ukraine concerning preserving of the status national behind the National university "Odessa Sea Academy".

2014

At the end of March, 2014 cadets from Academy of the Navies of Ukraine of P.S. Nakhimov in Sevastopol which was founded in 2009 based on the Sevastopol naval award of the Red Star of institute of P.S. Nakhimov were transferred to academy. The institute, in turn, was founded by the resolution of the Cabinet of Ukraine No. 490 of 8/19/1992 based on the former Black Sea highest naval award of the Red Star of school of P.S. Nakhimov and the Sevastopol highest naval engineering school.

Further, according to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ukraine No. 163 of June 4, 2014, as a part of academy the naval faculty was created. Cadets of faculty will pass a training by the ships of NATO

2002

On September 21, 2002 OGMA was given the status national and the name — the Odessa National Sea Academy (ONSA).

1991

On April 26, 1991 OVIMU was renamed into the Odessa State Sea Academy (OSSA).

1987

In 1987 for academy the training ship — the three-mast sailing Friendship frigate (delivered on a trick due to the lack of financing only at the beginning of the 2000th) was constructed.

1958

On May 29, 1958 OVMU was renamed into the Odessa Highest Engineering Sea School (OHESS).

1948

In 1948 the group of pupils and teachers caused a stir in a situation of rescue of the Victory ship on which on September 1, 1948 there was a major fire. Minister of navy N.V. Novikov. On December 30, 1948 the order "About rewarding of the cadets and teachers of the Odessa highest seaworthy school who caused a stir in fight for rescue of passengers and the motor ship "Victory'" was issued.

1944

On June 7, 1944 the Odessa Highest Seaworthy School (OHSS) was created.
