The supplier of the hardware-software solutions "Netberg" implemented a storage system based on Raidix software in IT infrastructure of "St. Petersburg State University of Telecommunications of the prof. M.A. Bonch-Bruyevich". On June 20, 2018 the Raidix company reported about it.
The storage system existing earlier required serious completions: The IT department of the university faced the high cost of further scaling when preserving the high level of reliability. For this reason the decision to upgrade DWH which is used for a hosting of web resources of the university, stable operation of virtual machines and file exchange was made.
The software of RAIDIX was unrolled based on the existing hardware complex, having organically fitted into IT infrastructure and using all its advantages: a two-controller configuration on 50 disks with 4 SSD drives with a total capacity of 67 TB.
During implementation all requirements to deployment of the virtualized cluster were considered and high reliability of storage due to use of the failsafe equipment is provided. Long testing showed good results on processing speeds and issues of information. Also simplicity of the user interface and universality of a complex which functions in different operating environments and is compatible to clients of different hardware-software platforms was mentioned.
Transition of main system of management of the university to the disk platform prepares. In further plans — transfer of other services on a storage system under control of Raidix software.
