History

2019: The agreement with Tele2 for the purpose of holding actions in the fields of education and sciences

On September 24, 2019 Tele2 reported that it signed the agreement on long-term cooperation with the Russian state pedagogical university of A.I. Herzen (RGPU of A.I. Herzen). A main goal of partnership – implementation of joint projects, actions in the fields of education and sciences. Read more here.

1957

In 1957 the Leningrad teacher training college of M.N. Pokrovsky was merged into Institute of A.I. Herzen. On January 21, 1991 LGPI of A.I. Herzen was certified as the university and received the name "Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia".

1942

In 1942 the Academy of communistic education of N.K. Krupskaya was attached to institute. It was evacuated to the Urals to Kyshtym. In post-war years the institute turned into the center of preparation of the pedagogical personnel, largest in the USSR.

1918-1923

In 1918 based on the Educational house the order Narkomprosa founded the Third Petrograd teacher training college which began to produce annually thousands of teachers for newly created schools. In 1920 the name of A.I. Herzen is appropriated to institute. In 1922 — 1923 the 1st and 3rd teacher training colleges were united in the Petrograd state teacher training college of A.I. Herzen.

1905

Became 1905 the first women's professional school for preparation of nurses, milliners, teachers for elementary raznochinny schools.

1903

In 1903 based on commercial pedagogical rates of the Educational house the highest Women's teacher training college was founded (since 1912 — Imperial).

1797

In 1797 the St. Petersburg Educational house according to the order of the emperor Pavel the First was balanced in the rights with the Moscow department of the Educational house (organizations existed since 1764).
