The digital solutions ABB Ability, competences of project work and service will reduce capital investments in the new offshore field of Statoil.
ABB announced in June, 2018 delivery of automation systems and security of ABB Ability for the new Johan Castberg oil field of Statoil company in Norway. Solutions and ABB services will help to lower capital costs of the project by implementation of the integrated management, security systems and communication.
Located in the Barents Sea, to the north from the Polar circle, the new field will be developed using the floating platform and underwater installation with 30 wells. Volumes of Johan Castberg oil are estimated at 400-600 million barrels – it will be the largest in the world the sea oil project.
Automation system 800xA, security systems, including expanded modeling and supporting services will be included in the delivery ABB. Together with the project organization Aker Solutions ABB will be engaged in an engineering part, installation and balancing and commissioning. Order size is estimated approximately at 25 mln. dollars.
At ABB experience in the gas industry and long cooperation with Statoil on a number of projects around the world. All important oil and gas installations beyond Arctic Circle in Norway use automation systems and security ABB. Four decades as the system provider of security and automation of the industry became a decisive factor for the choice of solutions ABB and in this project.
It is supposed that the field will begin work in 2022, the approximate term of its operation – 30 years. Deliveries ABB will begin at the end of 2018.
