2018: Australia did not start up Huawei to national a 5G project
In July, 2018 it became known that Australia did not allow Huawei Technologies to the national project of construction of networks of fifth generation (5G). The authorities are afraid of possible communications of the company with the government of Celestial Empire.
It is the Chinese company, and, under communistic laws, it should work with their intelligence agencies if it is required to them. In the world there are not a lot of other companies which have own political committee — told Reuters agency in the Australian government. |
Huawei repeatedly denied the communication with the government and promised Canberra to give an opportunity for full control of the telecommunication equipment supplied for a 5G networks. Such supervision works in other countries, including in the USA where the special laboratory in which intelligence officers carefully study all products of Huawei is unrolled.
However the Australian intelligence agencies consider that similar strict control is not enough to be fully confident in security when using solutions of Huawei.
Concerns are that in case of equipment installation of Huawei by mobile operators the Chinese company can develop means for data collection or even "undermining stability of network".
According to the Chinese legislation, the company and citizens should cooperate with local prospecting bodies. The chairman of the board of directors of Huawei Australia John Lord specified that this law does not extend to business outside the People's Republic of China.
Any information and any equipment which we provide for national infrastructure of each country are protected owing to our opportunities. It is safe — the Lord assured. |
Within development of a 5G networks in Australia the government will unroll network of cellular towers which then will be leased to local operators, including Telstra.[1]
In August, 2018 the authorities of Australia prohibited Huawei and other companies which are not meeting safety requirements to supply the equipment for deployment of the state and private 5G networks in the country.
