History

2022: Creation of an engineering center of advanced materials and technologies

March 13, 2022 it became known about the creation in Kabardino-Balkarian State University (KBSU) of an engineering center for advanced materials and technologies. It will operate an experimental and industrial site for the production of superstructure polymers, composite thermoplastic materials based on them, filaments for 3D printing, plasticizers, apparets and other additives that are practically absent on the Russian market, the acting vice-rector of the university for research work Svetlana Khashirova told TASS.

According to her, the KBSU, with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and the Foundation for Advanced Studies, carried out breakthrough world-class studies and obtained import-saving results, developed materials that significantly exceed the best foreign analogues in their characteristics.

KBSU is engaged in the development of superstructured polymer materials that have radiation resistance in combination with high physical, mechanical and thermophysical characteristics, the weight of such an item is 70% less compared to steel, 55% titanium, 40% aluminum, these polymers are resistant to wear, chemically inert, strong, frost resistant, as well as biointerts for use in medicine. The polymer materials developed can be used in new manufacturing technologies, including 3D and 4D printing.

KBSU plans to exchange experience with other academic institutes and universities.[1]
