The self-ciphered disks (SED) from Innodisk represent the industrial solution for protection of your data. The hardware mechanism of enciphering located in the controller provides absolute inviolability of data at zero impact on loading of the CPU. For simplification of process of implementation of these devices specialists of Innodisk created iOpal - the software with the interface allowing to manage the disks SED.
Data protection and management of the user access is very difficult task today. Many give preference to consumer solutions - for example, to program enciphering for protection of confidential data, but similar solutions have a considerable number of shortcomings. Systems with program enciphering are much more subject to risks of cracking and other attempts of unauthorized access to your data not to mention that process of enciphering considerably increases loading of the CPU.
The disks SED from Innodisk use the 256-bit mechanism of AES enciphering which is the standard adopted by the U.S. Government. The internal AES engine ciphers all data arriving on devices, thus, in attempt unauthorized reading from NAND a flash disk information will be absolutely illegible.
However process of implementation and management of your SED disks without the necessary devices can be very difficult. TCG Opal 2.0 represents a set of specifications for management of the self-ciphered disks focused on elimination of this problem. This development provides a possibility of creation of different zones of access for different users, allowing to see the necessary information only that who has appropriate rights of access.
The software of iOpal integrates the TCG Opal 2.0 specifications in the application. This application includes such important functions - as management of data storage, authorization of users and authentication before loading. The software of iOpal and SED disks from Innodisk is a solution for responsible applications - for example, in the space industry, the DATA centers, etc. iOpal compatibly to solid state drives of different form factors of series 3MG2-P, 3SE2-P and 3MR2-P.
