CIGRE SIGRE International Council for big electrical systems of high tension

The international Council for big electrical systems of high tension (SIGRE), Conseil International des Grands Réseaux Electriques (CIGRE) — the international non-governmental non-profit organization in the field of power industry which coordinates researches, exchange of experience and scientific and technical information on issues of functioning of the electrical power systems.

More than 1000 organizations and 7000 experts occupied in all fields of power industry are its part. The purpose of the Russian national committee — representation of interests of Russia in SIGRE and assistance to members of SIGRE RNA in development of exchange of technical knowledge with foreign colleagues.

SIGRE is created in 1921 in France and is one of the most authoritative scientific and technical associations which integrates scientists and specialists power engineering specialists of the whole world and has a strong impact on formation of the strategy of development for the industry of many countries. The headquarters of SIGRE is located in Paris.

Main objective of SIGRE, according to articles of organization — coordination of researches, exchange of experience and scientific and technical information on issues of functioning of the electrical power systems. In the center of attention there are questions of development, creation and operation of the high-voltage equipment, a problem of planning and operation of power supply systems, developments and deployments of new technologies of data collection and processing and management systems.

Structure

As of July, 2018, SIGRE includes governing bodies (The General Assembly, Administrative board, Managing committee and Technical committee) and 16 permanent research committees.

The basic organizational principle of SIGRE is work through the national committees integrating industry companies and institutes of the country or geographical region. As of 2018, SIGRE is provided in 95 countries of the world.

The Russian national committee occupies one of the leading places in SIGRE — both on number, and thanks to the high level of researches in the field of power industry and to ensuring reliability of work of UES of Russia.
