IC Telecom-Service created virtual IT infrastructure at office Gelar

On July 24, 2018 it became known that in September, 2017 the network integrator IC TELECOM-SERVICE started the complex project of upgrade technical and IT infrastructures in the territory of the office space of GELAR.

GELAR set before IC TELECOM-SERVICE the task of project implementation, including design and installation of a cable and telecommunication network for placement of jobs of specialists of GELAR company – designers who work with the AutoCAD and BIP Model systems. These systems rather exacting both to performance of hardware capacities, and to 3D accelerators that strongly complicated a problem of creation of IT infrastructure.

Initially the solution was calculated on standard approaches, i.e. it was offered to create standard high-speed networks and for designers to deliver workstations with rather powerful videos cards which will allow to be engaged in design without delay of processing of the picture. Implement this solution it was not received as its cost was higher sounded by the customer, and difficulties with delivery dates of video cards to Russia appeared.

Standard approach did not approach therefore it was decided to suggest the customer to implement a task on the basis of VDI technology (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure).

Efficiency and advantages of the solution

The VDI technology does possible creation of the virtual IT infrastructure constructed on one or several servers, or the virtual servers VDI - structures which provide management tools, without making at the same time notable changes to workflow of users. For system testing the decision to collect a demo stand was made. Its components looked as follows:

1. Servers of the solution VDI are DELL Power Edge R730 with the graphic AMD Fire Pro F7150X2 cards;
2. Personal stations for employees (Thin clients) – DELL Wyse 3040;
3. Personal stations for heads (Thin clients) – DELL Wyse 5030 - TERADICHI;
4. Core of a system of virtualization of VMware vSphere 6;
5. Virtualization of jobs of VMware Horizon 7 Standard;
6. Infrastructure of ID – Microsoft Windows Server 2016.

This solution allows the customer to unroll virtual environment, and if necessary to direct the raised resources of video of processing to certain specialists, i.e. at standard settings for each user it is necessary on 2 virtual CCPs, at the same time there is an opportunity to flexibly change the selected resources from 2 - 16 CCPs and quantity of 3D cores.

In addition for work of this solution as specialists IC TELECOM-SERVICE DWH of Netapp as the central storage of all these users was offered.

This solution at standard videos loadings showed the 4th multiple increase in productivity when comparing with classical architecture, and at flexible resource allocation performance of design processes increased multiply.

Additional plus of the implemented platform became more transparent and flexible backup system of user data about thin clients and an opportunity on the basis of one solution to raise the security level.

For July, 2018 at office Gelar installation and construction works therefore on their end also engineering infrastructure will be implemented are carried out (SCS, a LAN, BLVS, the ACS, EOM).
