History
2024: Closing of the last stores
The Korablik chain of stores is completing the work of the remaining retail outlets, follows from messages published at the end of July 2024 in the retailer's official VKontakte account. By the specified date, the Shipboard site and application are not available. By the end of August - the beginning of September 2024, stores of children's goods in a new concept will begin to open in their place.[1]
2023
A 2.6-fold reduction in the chain of stores
The network of stores for children's goods "Korablik" over the past year has decreased 2.6 times. The retailer has just 32 points of sale left in 2024, down significantly from early 2023, when the chain had 83 stores. This was reported on June 14, 2024 by the Kommersant newspaper.
The reduction in the Korablik network is associated with the closure of unprofitable facilities located in unpromising locations and old shopping centers without targeted traffic. Nadezhda Ermakova, executive director of the A&NN Investments fund, confirmed that the company is getting rid of unprofitable points. The A&NN Investments fund, managed by Alexander Mamut, gained control of the retailer in April 2023, after the founder of the company, Alexei Zuev, was forced to sell it due to financial difficulties.
As a result, the company closed stores in a number of regions, including the Vologda, Voronezh and Ryazan regions. Now the network is represented only in Moscow, Moscow region, Kaluga and Nizhny Novgorod regions.
The company's 2023 report indicated that management had no plans to cease operations. Last year, Korablik closed unprofitable stores, revised the conditions for purchasing goods under its own brand and optimized the staff. In 2022, 465 people worked on the network, and in 2023 - almost half as many.
It is increasingly difficult for networks of children's goods to compete with marketplaces, said Boris Katz, owner of the Leonardo network. Sellers on online sites can afford low prices through tax savings and certification of goods, he said. RedStone managing partner Indira Shafikova added that Korablik occupied objects with an average area of 900 square meters. m, and it will not be difficult to find other tenants for such areas. Promising sites are actively occupied by such networks as Detsky Mir and Kari Kids.[2]
A&NN Investments bought 5% of the Ship
On April 5, 2023, it became known that structures associated with billionaire Alexander Mamut would receive the entire business of the Korablik children's goods network.
As part of the first stage of the transaction, according to the Kommersant newspaper, Kerbin LLC, associated with the A&NN Investments fund, Mamut's asset manager, received 5% in Korablik-R LLC, the Korablika operating company. In the future, it is planned to take over the rest of this chain of stores.
The first Korablik store appeared in 2000 in the Maryino metro area of Moscow. As of the beginning of 2023, the chain covered more than 100 Russian cities and consisted of over 150 stores. However, the company is struggling financially. At the end of 2021, its revenue decreased by 43% - to 3.7 billion rubles, and the net loss amounted to 252.7 million rubles. If in 2019 Korablik ranked fifth among the key players in the children's goods market in Russia with a share of about 2%, then in 2021 the network dropped to ninth place with a result of less than 1%.
LLC "Kerbin" in equal shares belongs to the executive director of A&NN Investments Nadezhda Ermakova and Viktor Samoilov. The company also owns legal entities associated with the Good's House, Cookhouse, and Pioneer cinemas in Moscow. These networks are managed by Ideas4Retail, where 90% is owned by A&NN Investments Alexander Mamut and Lynwood Group, Kommersant reports. |
Ideas4Retail in Russia is developing a franchise chain of toy stores Hamleys, which also could not cope with financial difficulties. Because of this, part of the Hamleys outlets were renamed "Winnie." Thus, the acquisition of the Korablik network will allow Alexander Mamut's structures to strengthen their position in the Russian market for children's goods. At the same time, networks will have to compete with the leader of the segment - "Children's World."[3]
The beneficiary of the toy supplier MTK "Alice" bought a stake in the network of stores "Korablik"
Oleg Sokhatsky, a beneficiary of a large toy supplier MTK Alisa, bought a stake in the Korablik chain of children's goods stores. This became known on March 20, 2023.
According to Kommersant, citing data from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, the entrepreneur received 5% in the operating company of the Korablik-R network. The rest of the share is held by Korablik JSC, the owner of which has not been disclosed. The general director of Korablik-R is Alexander Sokolov. According to the extract of the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, Sohatsky is an individual entrepreneur, his main activity is retail trade in games and toys in specialized stores.
MTK Alisa was one of the largest suppliers of Korablik and the owners of the network could sell the business to the distributor for debts, according to sources interviewed by the publication. The assortment of MTK "Alice" by March 2023 includes over 10 thousand items. The company is a distributor of Brio, Kidz Delight, Jakks Pacific brands, produces toys under its own brands 1Toy and "Alice knows what to do!," Sells strollers, bicycles, cosmetics, food.
According to the interlocutors of the newspaper, the founder of Korablik, Alexei Zuev, has long wanted to retire and sell the business. At the end of 2022, the media wrote that the company Vanderkind, controlled by Alexander Mamut, claims business, which developed Hamleys toy stores in the country.
The sale of the business may be due to financial difficulties that the network had a few years ago. Recently, the chain had to reduce the number of existing stores, told the Association of Enterprises of the Children's Goods Industry.
Infoline-Analytics CEO Mikhail Burmistrov notes that by March 2023, specialized networks of children's goods are experiencing difficulties due to reduced demand and the activation of C2C commerce at sites such as Avito[4]
