The department of IKI RAS creates satellite services for remote sensing of the land surface and also collecting and data analysis about the environment. As a part of department laboratories which develop information technologies of space monitoring function, are engaged in ensuring monitoring of moving objects and land ecosystems. The institute executes a number of projects for the Ministry of Education and Science, the Russian Federal Property Fund and the Russian scientific fund, connected including with processing of superdata bulks.

Data from satellites are stored and processed at Institute on several different DWH. At the end of the 2017th year there was a need to increase capacity for long-term storage of data archives on the Earth's surface. The Institute looked for optimal both on performance, and at cost the solution as wanted to base it on already existing hardware platform.

As a result of search with a command of Raidix the suitable configuration which demanded the minimum investments was defined. Two-controller DWH based on software of RAIDIX was unrolled on servers of Dell with installation of the additional disk shelf (JBOD) on 44 disks with a general capacity of 160 of Tb.

Volume testing took several months, and as a result it was succeeded to receive failsafe DWH with the necessary parameters and at the optimal price. The equipment room and a software support ensured smooth operation of servers and workstations and also safety of data of department and their availability to the distributed information resources.
