Features of the PowerEdge systems

The Dell EMC PowerEdge servers are distinguished by the increased speed of work of memory and faster drives NVMe (Non – Volatile Memory Express) that provides the high level of performance. At the same time, the integrated security aids help to protect from unauthorized changes and cyber attacks.

In addition, the feature of PowerEdge is that working conditions of users and the integrated management tools are identical to all servers of a series. As a result the user will use the unified processes of correction, administration, updating and decommissioning of servers in all data processing center. Besides, the PowerEdge servers have the built-in administrative tools of the OpenManage systems which allow IT specialists to focus on the solution of strategic tasks of business and to spend less time for daily IT tasks.

Built-in security aids

The architecture, steady against cyber attacks, which guarantees security for all lifecycle is the cornerstone of the PowerEdge systems. In servers new means of protecting are used that allows to transfer reliably and safely the necessary data to customers irrespective of their location.

Dell EMC considers each aspect of security of systems — from development of architecture before decommissioning:

  • The reliable supply chain of components provides protection at all stages: from factory assembly before installation in a data processing center.
  • Cryptographic the signed packets of microprograms and safe loading guarantee data protection.
  • Protection against unauthorized or harmful change with blocking of the server is provided.
  • The SystemErase function provides fast and safe erasing of all data from the memorable carriers, including hard drives, solid state drives and memory of a system.

Rack Dell EMC PowerEdge R840 server

The PowerEdge R840 servers provided in compact form factor 2U provide the high performance of the resource-intensive applications and analytics given due to use to four scalable Intel® Xeon® processors with quantity of main cores to 112. The built-in security protections and the confirmed level of reliability allow to provide the maximum time of smooth operation of a corporate data processing center.

The recommended loadings:

The maximum configuration includes up to 26 2.5-inch hard drives and SSD, including the drives NVMe with direct connection which guarantee fast processing of crucial workloads. Thanks to existence up to 48 modules DDR4 DIMM (12 of which can be the modules NVDIMM) and storage capacity up to 6 Tbyte servers can process big data sets.

In addition graphic processors of double width or a payment of FPGA will be able to accelerate operation of applications. Graphic processors are the high-performance multi-core processors used for acceleration of work of a broad spectrum of applications. Already available possibilities of the central processor of the PowerEdge servers extend due to adding of computing power of the graphic processor thanks to what performance increases.

Rack Dell EMC PowerEdge R940 server

The PowerEdge R940 server is intended for support of crucial applications and decision making in real time. Automatic adjustment of a number of workloads allows to expedite a configuration.

The recommended loadings:

The 4-processor R940 server is delivered in a form factor 3U. In it it can be installed up to 24 2.5-inch hard drives or up to 12 drives NMVe. Existence up to 6 Tbyte of RAM in 48 modules DIMM, 12 from which can be NVDIMM modules, and 13 slots of PCIe of third generation allow R940 system to increase as much as possible performance of applications and scalability for the satisfaction of future requirements.

The solution PowerEdge R940 is optimized for software-defined storage system at the expense of a special configuration with two sockets and provides for 50% more wide bandwidth of UPI in comparison with the standard two-socket server.
