2018: Announcement of the notebook
The large producer of the defense and space systems of Raytheon provided as the company approves, the first-ever completely waterproof notebook. The model under the name Unica is announced within the ChinaJoy exhibition (China Digital Entertainment Expo & Conference) which took place from August 3 to August 6 in Shanghai.
For demonstration of opportunities of the unsinkable portable computer it was submerged in the reservoir with water in which the device continued to work normally, as well as after taking out from it. The device is protected from penetration of water and dust according to IP68 standard that corresponds to almost maximum degree of protection in classification of IP. The devices created according to IP68 maintain long immersion in a pressured water.
At the same time externally Raytheon Unica does not differ from other consumer notebooks most of which fail even at the minimum contact with water. Many other protected PCs devices have the corresponding "heavy" design and considerable weight.
The laptop Raytheon Uncia is supplied with the 13-inch touch display the quad-core Intel processor Core i7-8550U with the maximum clock rate of 4 GHz. In the device there are no fans, but stable work is reached due to small energy consumption (15 Vt*ch) and design features of the chip providing effective heat extraction. At a thickness of 12.7 mm the product weighs about 1.1 kg.
The notebook is created in a hybrid form factor: the cover leans back on a corner of nearly 360 degrees, turning the PC into the tablet. More detailed technical characteristics of a product at the time of the announcement are not called.
The producer is going to begin sales of Raytheon Uncia in 2018, but he did not call more exact terms of emergence of innovation in shops. Also notebook cost is also unknown.[1]
